Not bad for $6!  Visiting the souvenir shops in Wisconsin Dells!

Two Lionel made for LCCA items.

First a Virginia City trolley from the 2019 Reno convention. From a forum member, awesome and great price.

Then a Burlington boxcar to add to my ever growing Burlington collection,

I picked up this Canadian Pacific caboose and 3 CP gondolas on ebay for a song. Adding to my newly formed Canadian Pacific train.

This is a ghost "Chatham" coach; a LIONEL 15" aluminum car that was part of LIONEL's anniversary set, 6-31712 that featured scale PA's and seven passenger cars with interiors, diaphragms, sprung trucks, etc.  Very nice passenger cars circa 2000.

This one was assembled from parts purchased from N. Lima Train Works (body shell, interior, and frame) and LIONEL (trucks, underframe detail, and various nuts, washers, etc.).  Since this photo, the two vista domes (Plainfield and Westfield) and diner have been assembled.  That leaves the observation car, baggage, and combo car to be assembled.  Photos of the group will be posted when completed.

The only difference between these and those sold in 2000 is these are assembled in the USA.

Yesterday I lucked into a monster margin buy at the local train shop.

A preamble first.  About two three years ago started designing a modular layout system that we could take to local shows and event.  My criteria was relatively large sections built in lite weight construction with MTH RealTrax.  RealTrax since nickel silver rails (will not rust).  I already had complete plus circles of O-82 and O-72, switches O-72 and various pieces of solid rail track.  Did not want to mix the old and new track since the roadbed is 10-shades different.  Came up with two similar variations but needed many 30-inch sections.  Found a source for solid rail track.  But then 6 of my O-Gauge guys passed away.  I was diagnosed something bad and something worst and something really possibly catastrophic.  And then the "China" COVID virus hit.  So was not about spending 5 or 6 hundred dollars on track.  I have been looking at my plans and wishing.

Well last week went into the local train shop for a 3 1/2-inch new form RealTrax section to lay down O-54 carpet rental loop to run my "new" 4-6-6T engine and consist.  The guy running the place right now asked if I wanted some solid 30-inch track.  I passed not want to make the investment.  I stopped in there yesterday just to see what he had and wanted for it.  Noe he approached me asking if at all interested.  I asked how much???   He said $20.00 for the original box of 20-pcs.  And also said $5.00 for a box of 5-pcs plus two pcs of Gargrave and  a Lionel long section of O-27.  $25.00 plus tax was a no brainer.  LUKED OUT!!!

I just bought a used Weaver Gold Edition brass B&O P7d Pacific, “The Cincinattian”.

I have really wanted to own a Weaver brass steam engine for some time, this is my first one. I wanted the “Cincinattian” most of all.

I am very happy the right deal came my way.

Very excited.

METCA 10th anniversary F3 shells and a METCA 60th anniversary boxcar

Not O scale, but this thing is awesome. I can't wait to build it.

I picked up the final piece of the Lionel semi scale set that I’ve been looking for. This die cast Shell tank car. Now I need to find a NYC engine to pull the consist. I’m hoping to find one at the Lionel warehouse sale in September. Or at York in September.

This Unique Lines Rock Island AA set arrived today. Even tho I just bought one I liked this one

better. Runs pretty good, e unit works, noisy as **** and more sparks than the 4th of July.

Wow, that makes the whole arsenal of Lionel military stuff from the postwar period seem small and insignificant.  One fire of that thing and it's war over

Jon @Mill City - yes Parson's Trading Post was one set; the other set I acquired in a gift shop downtown Wisconsin Dells.  Couldn't remember where, so I tried Parson's and got one there!  I'm planning a Civil War era Christmas layout for my father-in-law, so some extra wagons and horses are helpful.

I bought my second illuminated billboard from Miller Engineering it arrived yesterday. It will find a place in my layout as soon as I get to a point where I can place buildings in our city scene again.

I recently purchased a MTH Rail King PA 40' high cube and after some kitbashing, created my first "Blue and Gray" boxcar. This is the first in a series I am planning.

Will do! It's 1000+ pieces, and I have already gone through 5 bottles of paint so far (only 50% painted). Wish me luck!

Went a bit crazy adding to my rolling stock - all K-Line - most are die cast. Found several Milwaukee Road cars and CB&Q, Pennsy, Clinchfield cars for a future coal drag. The Milwaukee Road caboose is nicely detailed and smokes well - good thing there is an off switch. The NW J is something I've had for a while but had not run.

I picked up this Premier Southern SD35 last week. Beautiful model.

An addition to my Pennsy Power, the MTH DD-1.  This one needed a little work to beat it into shape, but it's running now.  New speaker, new supercap battery, and some lube and TLC.

breezinup  -  The " J "  is an MTH RailKing 30-1286-1.  I bought it "new" a couple of years ago - being new to this hobby - I had no idea it was from 2003. I never considered someone would sell something 16 years old as new (lesson learned) - it had never been run so I suppose it really was new. It is a PS2 and runs great. Very nice looking engine and tender. First time out of the box and run since I bought it. Of course I had torn apart my layout several times in that short time when I decided I "needed" 072 curves instead of 042. 

Picked up two pairs of the Atlas Trinity Covered Hoppers from @Beth Marshall-The Public Delivery Track.

Like all the Atlas rolling stock I’ve purchased, these are really beautiful. The graphics are crisp, and the applied detail is amazing.

Thx for the mention.      The whole idea with the Public Delivery Track, is to have nice stuff.  All the MTH special runs i do, i try to do with their best detailed cars.  The detail varies considerably, depending on the car.  Even the Atlas varies a bit in detail,
