So folks either love them or they hate them!  I love them.  Here are two MTH BL-2s I bought from Mike Caruso.  The number 83 is ProtoSound and is a really smooth running engine.  I happen to have a PS3 upgrade kit that will go in it.  The 7181 with the newer paint scheme is a non powered unit.  Thanks to Mike!!!

Nice, Mark!  I also saw them previously and thought they'd be great to upgrade.  I've come to believe that early MTH quality makes for excellent upgrade candidates.  Do update us when the install is completed.

BTW, I never met a first generation diesel I didn't like.  Gotta get me a BL-2 some day.

Here is my follow-up, pics of my PC P2 Box Cab along with my NYC Box Cab also. I had only seen the PC Box Cab one time and knew it would be a hard find, so when it came up for sale on E-Bay I was ecstatic, even better was the seller lived right around where I worked so no shipping costs involved. Now I'm on the hunt for the Cigar Band P2, and the straight NYC black P2, then it's back to collecting NYC Steam.

Mark,

I love the BL-2s.  I always migrated to unusual engines. Enjoy them. Too bad the Pennsy didn't have any.

Pat so agree.  Wish one of the roads I am partial to had them.  In fact I would do something so very unlike me and buy a BL-2 in a good fantasy  paint job of anyone of my favored  roads albeit not prototypical.

Pat and Ron, that's why I bought the Williams in GM Demonstrator colors.

Great idea.  But would have tobe MTH with DCS or maybe Lionel TMCC/TMCC II.

I saw the latest MTH catalog has one.  http://mthtrains.com/20-20776-1

THANK YOU MARK!!!!!!!

I thought I had seen one but could not find it by looking at most recent catalogs or a search.

Will stop by my local dealer today to order.  They are available now at MTH.

Ron

Got my package from Scenic Express. Placed the order over the weekend. I ordered some more of their scrub grass which I really like and as I was browsing I came across a new scenery item from Martin Welberg so I ordered a bunch of them in various color tones. Unfortunately the majority of them are back ordered and won't ship till maybe August. But now that I got the first package I like the look of them. Pics.............Paul

Mark thanks again!

Local dealer ordered this morning.  Will be here in a week or two at most.

Ron

Ron,

I just saw this after responding to the last message!  That's great!  I'm glad you got one ordered.  The demo paint scheme really accentuates the lines of the BL-2!  I like it, but had to go with my favorite Western Maryland.

Thanks Mark- I placed a bid on it almost not expecting to get it since it was in such good condition. I was a little surprised that it landed in my lap. It looks showroom new as you can see in the photos. I don't think it has much run time on it judging by the condition of the wheels and pick up rollers.

Bob

Bob,

You just never know when a conservative bid will get the item for you!  Congratulations!

Got this a few weeks back:

It's a Heathkit #RP 1065.

Now I don't wish to sound like a braggart, but I think over the years I've gotten fairly decent at getting my locos fine-tuned and running well. Have been using Troller Autopulse units and an MRC "ControlMaster VI", and everything has been pretty good...or so I thought.

This thing is remarkable in its ability to make everything run amazingly well. From 3-pole Rivarossi locos (both HO and 0) to anything with an open-frame DC-71 to engines with Pittman can motors (also HO and 0). Low speed is terrific, the "momentum" feature is actually something that can be used in practice, unlike other packs that offer this option. Has multiple controls for pulse, but I'm finding it's just not needed. And because it started as a kit, it's very "user friendly" as far as being able to go inside and make circuit adjustments as needed/wanted.

Am still learning all it can do; it's big, heavy, think of it as kind of a DC equivalent to a ZW...

Happy Fourth, everyone.

Got in another station kit...which l don't need, and it does not have a family resemblance to others, although l have seen wildly different stations on roads. I kitbashed a number of Plasticville stations into very different but "related" structures. Now do not plan to use. Should have picked some other available O scale kit for similarity bashes. Now this road will look like it was assembled from a multitude of shortlines...very prototypical!

A couple new additions to the fleet.

Lionel Canadian National 2-6-0 #86.  This was once part of Richard Kughn's Carail collection.

Also this custom Three Stooges boxcar.  Partially because I'm a major fan, and partially because the Redford Theatre where I build an annual Christmas display has a twice yearly Three Stooges Festival, so it'll be fun to run on this years display.

Lionel Illinois Central passenger set - F3 ABBA, 6 car set, 2 vista domes.  I've been searching a long time for this and finally found a set at a decent price.  Set appears to be in new condition - I'm afraid to put it on the rails.

You've got to run them!! Play a little "City of New Orleans" by Steve Goodman in the background and make a nice little video to share with us!!

That is one of the nicest looking passenger sets in my opinion. Enjoy!!
