Received my latest purchases yesterday.

NYC S2 and New Hope Valley Plymouth by K-line and a NYC covered 2-bay hopper.

Had a good time at the Parma show . Didn't sell much. But I found a couple of Weaver flats with trailers for a good price. So this show I ran a deficit LOL. Pic..............Paul

I bought several MTH items from Mr. Muffin, some freight cars, a NYC passenger set and my favorite,  20-3743-1 NYC - 4-6-2 USRA Heavy Pacific Steam Engine.  The battleship grey engine is beautiful.

I picked up one of the BLI PRR P70 coaches to run with my PRR J1a 6163.

I stumbled onto these at a train show yesterday.

I didn't notice who made "All Steamed Up" until I got it home.

Whistles West has no liner notes on the back of the album cover.

Those albums are cool. Nice find.

Paul, I am so proud of you! Your really learning to pull the trigger on something you like! Who care's if you sale anything you found something cool for YOUR layout! LOL

Mike, I am proud of myself too. I usually run in deficits at train shows LOL. And when I got home from the show on Saturday these were waiting for me. Another set of Weaver trucks and couplers from the BAY and two sets from Patrick's trains. MTH is doing the Weaver Bentendorf trucks. So I picked up two sets. Pic............Paul

My first RMGT purchase arrived today via USPS.  Very nicely done and Walter even included a hand written Thank You note.  It will become part of my "Coal Cracker" Express which includes a Frank's Roundhouse Wyoming Valley Kielbasa reefer and a Mrs. T's Pierogies box car for the year end holidays. But I've got a hankerin' to pull out some Fastrack for a preview.

Bought a Southern Mikado from a forum member at a local train show.

I actually had two different Mrs T's Pierogi's boxcars several years ago. 

When I had to sell my collection back then her husband actually bought

them for her. I got a hint that Andy Kriswalus liked her pierogies

Big Jim, Cool find!!! But you do know if you show those albums to any kids of today, your kids, grandkids, the first thing they will say is " But how do you get them into the CD player?" LOL!!!

Yeah, when I bought them my girlfriend asked if I even had a phonograph!
The records are all in like new condition! I'll record them to CD later this week, making them much easier to listen to. 

It is interesting to have an album by noted artist Howard Fogg and one that he even narrates. One highlight is Colorado Southern engine 807, an ex-CB&Q O-4 Mikado, hitting 62 mph.
"Whistles West" reminded me that the SP Cab Forward with their un-muffled air compressors had to be as irritating to be around as modern diesel with a "spitter" air dryer! UGH!!! There is also a recording of an SP 3 cylinder 4-10-2 that has an unusual gait. And, GS 4-8-4's that apparently had a whistle "trigger" as there was personable about the whistling.
"Big Boy" happens to have a recording of a UP gas turbine (another loco I am glad that I never had to suffer through!).

I bought this Lionel N&W "A-Tank" to go with the Lionel TMCC N&W 611 I also purchased and will hopefully be picking up this weekend, along with four N&W Pocahontas cars.  I've been wanting a model of the 611 for years, and finally got around to purchasing one.  I'm looking forward to running it.

Got a nice little package from Mr Brown today. More telephone poles, an ore car, PFE trailers for my Atlas 89 ft flats, gondola and flat car set for long load, and more 66 ft gons. All and all a good day. Pics..............Paul

Wow Paul that is one haul! But from all the stuff you have been getting, I think you can go ahead and call him by his first name! Jim, Bob, Mark, whatever it maybe! LOL

Bought 7 metal figures the other day for my  layout and another O gauge metal freight wagon for the western town. Plus I populated main street in the western town with cowboys from my collection that I have had for over 75 years.

This past Sunday I went to the monthly Train Show at the DuPage County Fairgrounds, as I have many times in the last 2-1/2 years, however this was the first time without my grandson... which was in one way tough to do (he's a fun little guy), but I was able to get there before the show opened at 9, which usually we get there about 11 or 12. Oh, my was that both good and bad for me and my wallet! I went looking only for a 182 Magnet Crane, which I did find in very nice shape for a very satisfactory price, but there was a whole lot of wonderfulness that apparently is usually gone by the time we'd usually get there, or maybe it was just my lucky day. Somehow I ended up with 2 postwar steamers (1 for parts for my 2055), a nice MTH 20-2499 diesel, a MTH TIU and remote, a pretty nice Hafner 1010 clockwork train (missing 1 axle, but otherwise pretty nice), a nice clean 460 Piggy back loader missing only the little guy, a 3460 flat car with 2 trailers, 3 Lehigh hopper cars for the little guy to load up with stuff, and 2 sets of Lionel railroad signs. It took 3 trips to the car!! I was done by 11:30, well OK my wallet was whimpering for mercy: I told it to hush up, the money was earned over quite a few weekends working in a muddy crawlspace and a cold dirty garage, so I deserved it.

Pictures at some point, there's a bunch of honey-do stuff and some other things that need to be done first. I'm really pleased, and I'm sure the little guy will be excited about all the new things!

It's amazing how all those items found their way into your possession at DuPage!  Yes, working a lot of overtime, you did deserve it.  The only trouble with a lot of overtime is that the honeydo list grows by leaps and bounds during that time.  

I'm looking forward to seeing how your grandson likes it all! 

Celebrated completing my Spring 2018 semester in college by stopping at the Train Station in Mountain Lakes. Found a Lionel Trains Inc. era animated billboard and modern-era 332 type arch trestle bridge for $30 each.

Both look great. The billboard is really cool to see in action. Though I found to keep the voltage low to keep the clicking sounds to a minimum.

Yesterday ordered from Scenic Express at the right time.  It showed up on my door step today. Not sure but think it was Mr Brown again. I am going to have to find out his name. He stops here so often I should offer him something of substance. So now I have the materials needed to possibly finish of the scenery in the section I have been working on. Well, two auto models l thought would never be made, I managed to get from NEO, a 1937 and 1940 LaSalle coupes (1/43).  While l prefer and only buy coupes to drive, l am aware that most of the public and my relatives in that era drove two and four door sedans. Brooklin offers a 2 door for 1939, a transitional styling year. IMO, 1933,37,40 were the peak styling years for LaSalle, so two outta three ain't bad.  Maybe NEO will offer sedans. The Burlington caboose book l finally glommed today, l mentioned in another postng.

Yes Paul, I would say you need to offer Mr. Brown a nice cool glass of lemonade on hot summer days and of course a generous Christmas gift as well.  Maybe a loud, brightly colored shirt since he has to go around wearing that drab brown all the time!

Got some goodies yesterday.  Here are the coolest I think:

This track scrubber car is unique and you can get the rollers from any paint store.  At an angle they roll and should do a nice scrubbing... might need a lot of cleaning fluid though.

$60 for the hobby shop, never seen it so low.  Even if the mechanicals are crap I can light it up and maybe add some sound.

WLLC tower for next to nothing.  Since it has a speaker maybe I'll kit bash to play digital recording of Orson Wells War of the Worlds or Slim Whitman's song "Indian Love Call" from the movie Mars Attacks (it's got Jack Nicholson... 'nuf said).  Song starts at 0:50.  This'll then go with my Area 51 (Groom Lake Mining) and space related section of my layout.

And this MTH DD-1 was my splurge.  The road name is Long Island but it has the PRR keystone on it.  It shuttled a lot of consists to and fro from Penn Station and had duty as the milk train on Long Island.  Now I need to get some milk cars I suppose.

 

I have not seen much to buy lately (at least that I can afford now, the transmission in my Chrysler TC Maserati

exploded at about 70mph yesterday). but I did notice something kind of funny on the bay today.

A few weeks ago there was a lot that I bid on, a 442 diner and some misc prewar signs and other 

items. It got out of my interest zone and eventually sold for $81. As I was surfing the bay a couple

of weeks later I saw the same lot listed for $135. I think the guy even used the original sellers photos. 

As I was browsing today I saw the lot listed again, only at $180 this time. I gotta say this guy is an optimist. 

Nice haul, Kirk. I especially like the DD1s. I have been hoping that MTH reissues the DD1 or I can find a Pennsy one on the used market. Nice engine.

Pat... these are hard to come by.  You might have better luck getting a PRR BB-1 which both MTH (Premier, PS 3) and Lionel (TMCC) made.  The MTH BB-1 version looks stunning.  

I'm trying to focus my motive power on engines that operated in PA (PRR of course, Erie, LV, Reading etc.) and since DD-1 were originally PRR, then sold to Long Island later, and because of the keystone on the front, I figured it was fair game.  

Now I need to build my "milk car" consist, but that'll be the topic of a separate posting.

Nice, but why do you say it's a PRR keystone?  It looks clearly like the LIRR one to me?

Dave45681  The keystone herald was used when PRR owned the LIRR.  They sold to the State of New York in 1966.
