Long story short.  When I picked up this hobby, Lionel had nothing close to what Mike was bringing out with MTH.  I chose MTH products and entered a pre-order for the Lionel Verandah Turbine.  Odyssey was being introduced as well as a break through in quality, scale & realism with this new offering.  I waited a long time and went through the "Odd-No-See" phase where the development was not going very quickly.

Fast forward to last year went I got back in "Grandkids & such",  I decided to purchase both brands since the Big L was really doing well.  I wanted to buy the engine I always wanted and purchased a used Lionel Verandah Turbine.  needless to say, I am thrilled and look forward to receiving it.  I sense it will be a long time before we see a diecast diesel engine like this one.  

Today I had to go out and pick up my Tuesday Night Train Crew 2 car beer reefer set. This is the second run the group has done and this one came out nicer then the first and that one was a looker. Plus when I got home my package from scenis express was on the door step. Pics............Paul

Picked up this nice Rail-craft kit build all metal gondola. I like the play on SP too. 

I got this off eBay, showed up today. Only sixteen bucks, shipped, and in very good condition. I always wanted the manual for an ALCO R-S3.

The ET&WNC had two RS-3, traded for their former SRR 2-8-0s in 1967 (which eventually went to the Southern steam program as 630 and 722). I saw these RS-3s in a scrap line at Elizabethton TN in the early 80s. One got preserved, at TVRM in Chattanooga, and will eventually get restored as the Central of Georgia unit it originally was.

I never got to see their RS-3s in service that I can recall, but as a kid we'd go through the area on family vacations to visit relatives so maybe I did see them and just didn't know an ALCO product when I saw one (as I'd have been a little kid at the time).

Though I'm not into 3-rail (or even standard gauge in O), I'm seriously considering getting a O scale RS-3 if I can find an inexpensive one and making it into ET&WNC 210, the one that still exists today, and this manual will be part of that eventually:

I recently purchased a pre war Lionel OO scale set.  Looks like I'm changing up the Christmas layout this year.

 Just picked up this Norfolk Southern OCS F7 A-B-A and a set of 70’ Smooth Side cars to go with it from Stockyard Express (Thank You Clyde).  It is not the exact “OCS” set but looks great regardless.  Here’s a short video of her Westbound passing my N S Reading Heritage unit on the Eastbound iron.

I got a fixed pilot kit to convert a dummy Es44ac to fixed pilots.

my buddy pulled my arm and I made the deal for PRR cars for dirt cheap. Love dirt cheap deals 

Got in a loco, a Williams by Bachman UP 4-6-0, from OGR advertiser Mario's, that, with the Weaver 2-8-0, when l find one, make a great pair for power on a short line.  I have an MTH Russian decopod, as once used on the DT&l and other "shorter" lines.   However, K-Line and Lionel have offered Mikados appropriate for  shortline use.  All will be decaled for my fictitious road.  These take care of "mainline sevice".  Still hoped for are a logging 2-4-4-2, and small two truck Heislers for the logging branch.  The decapod should have the "grunt" to serve the coal mining branch.  Also got in two more Matchbox 1937 IH trucks, one well along on a bash into a box truck.  Who got the Weaver 2-8-0 molds? Any hope of them, like the W by B 4-6-0, being reoffered?

I got my Lionel Spirit of UP today. Needs to be tested but it’s a pretty locomotive

Congrats on your latest acquisitions. It's an awesome paint scheme. I'd get myself one of these, if I had a steady income. I personally like this model of SD70ACe, because of the nose mounted headlight. Something about the high mounted headlight looks strange to me.

I was able to pick up a few bowser and Proto freight cars. I also found a great deal on an Athearn Genesis UP challenger.

I first saw an RJ Corman engineer here in Pennsylvania custom painting engines in their colors.  Now that Corman has grown, I am seeing factory models more and more.  Very nice!!

He is a great guy to deal with!  I have talked with him on the phone several times and visited the store once.

RJ Corman has a fair presence here in parts of South Carolina.. I used to see their Coil Cars quite frequently at a fabrication plant right down the road from me... I took lots of pictures!!... I have them around here somewhere.. I've been looking for someone to custom paint some cars for me in Corman livery, or at least make the decals so I could customize some cars myself.. My design skills are poor.. I think there was a thread a couple years ago about such, but I know of no action taken....

I went to Wally World and recalling the 150 trees one of you had picked up on sale, I swung my cart that way. I found the last two usable holiday diorama trees in the store hiding in the only remaining 90% off box. The others tangled in a "black pillow batting" "ball o' mess"; I fished out 2, 4inch snow dusted pines. About 1/4" taller. Than a Greneral's railed W&A waestern coach; perfect.

  The one on the left is a little Charlie Brown-ish branch barren, but 2 at 8¢ for a 16¢ total, is was pretty fun.  Maybe not a forests worth of fun, but smiles worth 

Picked up some more junk.   There's a few kit built boxcars I there, and I am hoping a Rail-craft hopper, but we will see.  Looks like a couple of plastic Atlas cars as well.

This was delivered today. Gonna upgrade a Postwar 2343 F3 and Williams Alco PA. Should give me something to do over the upcoming weekend snow storm. Got 2 more AC Commanders and another Cruise Commander to buy after this. Then all my locomotives will be TMCC or DCS. Decided to just upgrade my non command locomotives instead of replacing them as they run well, I like them, and the upgrades are cheaper than replacing them. 

Went to a local antique store today with some friends and I spotted a Lionel 155 station of prewar vintage. Nice find. Complete and no damage but it has the usual black dirt from longtime storage and some surface rust on the roof There are two light fixtures in under the roof. Started the process of cleaning it and removing the rust. Don't plan any painting. It is big and heavy and fits right in with my Standard gauge.  Bought it at a very reasonable price, too.

Recently suffered a pretty bad illness followed by an even worse concussion(still recovering, so sorry if grammar isn’t all there. haven’t even been able to tend totrains much . Here are some highlights of things I managed to get in that time though! 

American flyer prewar station No 96. Dinged but got a nice deal

2 above pictures another salute to prewar tin: bing freight car and Fleischmann 1946-1950ish  Gondola: note the soldiers carrying the crate in the background, if you’ve ever seen 70s cult classic horror film“Horror Express” might seem familiar

Can barely see these guys- aren’t supposed to! Kline SWAT oscale figurs 

And lastly my 3rd RMT Buddy! Got it like it was priced back when they came out with them! Couldn’t pass it up. Thought it had some issues at first but it’s been working nicely

Nice, Jim!! Saw one of those guys at a market around here. Looked in good shape(I’m short it was on top shelf) didn’t have any light fixtures though. Youll have to show pic when all clean always liked thaybpiece !

Steve, I’m sorry you had the illness and concussion!  I’m glad you are recovering!!  You made some nice purchases!  I hope you get back feeling normal soon

I can see why it's so loud, one of the chimes of the horn is bent down.

Shame that it came that way, but at least it's not the shell that is cracked.

After close and careful examination, I discovered that I was able to bend the horn back to the upright position without damaging it. I thought at first it was hard plastic but it would move.
