The quality is just what one comes to expect from a George Kohs model train.

I would have expected no less from George.  They won't do me for P:48 but I will check them out at the March meet.

Given what he went through with his last builder I give the man the highest credit.  I would hate to see the financial bath he took with the models that he rejected.

Dusting off the brass and hoping to get started painting.   Couldn't help but admire the beautiful PL-900 USRA double sheathed and PL-100 USRA single sheathed cars.

While they both share the same 5-5-5 Murphy end they are truly beautiful cars that do well in capturing the built-up nature of the real ones.

PL-900; just beautiful.

And that end.

PL-100 single sheathed equally as gorgeous.

Happy together.

Hey fellas, which one of yinz was buying those Pac Limited B-50-14 boxcars on the bay tonight?

$418 plus shipping for a PL-700 composite end B-50-14 and $428 plus shipping for the PL-750 with the steel ends.  Eight bidders on one car and eleven on the other.

Anybody want to fess up that was bidding?

Boxcar trivia - which Three Stooges episode stars a PE B-50 car under wire along with a PFE car?

Not Guilty! I like the PSC versions. Brad A. is a PL fan.

On another note, just curious what the genesis of the Hobbyhill tank cars was. I've heard there was NO prototype for them. Were they knocked off the PSC 10,000 gallon cars? I would think the builder would have needed some kind of drawings, fictional or not.

I believe they are a standard ACF type 21 or a reasonably close facsimile thereof.   Mine are packed away so I can't check right now.

Not saying that I don't like it, because I do, but that antenna system must be a holy terror not to bend. Ranks up there will the RY tank cars. I think I would just about as soon see a slightly over scale piece (wire and stanchions) to avoid handling damage.

I have never had any of my Yoder tank cars bend, nor any other car with brass wire be damaged.  Of course, I do try to avoid playing outdoor sports with them whenever possible...

Simon,  if that antenna spooks you, think about all those Pennsy trainphone antennas out there.

why steel wire is a must. a bear to bend but it holds up.

That's exactly what I'm thinking of, and I've seen many a one of them that were all mangled/bent up.

Steel wire would be better, no doubt!

Did you get the Hobbyhill Conoco car on ebay the other night?

I have NO problem handling stuff (other than maybe the old Intermountain reefers) but from what I have seen over the years, there are quite a few Gomez Adams out there.

Nice to be mentioned here...   I got the sp double sheathed last week, but was chased off on those b-50-14 singles.     Don’t fret, I have a bunch of em!     I have been working away and leave you with a few items to enjoy   The chicken car has real wood interiors as do many of my cars now.    The PE is pac Ltd, the atsf is prb (stripped and redone with fresh custom decals)   Reading is a usra and the southern is from protocraft.    Enjoy!D0F9B326-5B78-47C2-BF19-558813C0FA0A129080C6-5A6E-457A-AD3A-44C59514657FA882C3DA-69A7-4196-9882-B2946B111014EABF9810-BE85-4599-B8D9-EF610BCE13622DB195D0-AC7F-481D-95F8-E2182E0B1D10

Thought this might be a good time to mentioned I'm looking for some Cameron Scale Models brass 53ft flatcars from mid 90's production.  UP most desirable to me, but would consider any road. Would also like to learn more about these cars if anyone cares to comment. I missed them at the time and just learned about them while reading an old 1993 OSN magazine.

Thanks,

BH

Schweet!

Hey, at the EOS O scale meet, Martin Milner was there with all of his Scale City/Keil Line castings and in and amongst them was a selection of trust plates.   They may not be exactly your car's bank or trust info, but you might still find one that is close enough to be acceptable.   They are soft metal castings so you might need to sand the back down to make it appear scale thickness.
