3rd Rail Jawn Henry shorting when going through curves

I purchased a 3rd Rail Jawn Henry new and its been sitting on the shelf for almost 4 years now.  I test ran it when I got it new on 10 foot straight test track since I didn't have a layout at the time - everything worked as advertised.

I now have a decent carpet central with minimum O-72 curves.  All the track is Lionel Fast Track.

I finally got around to running the Jawn Henry last night.  It ran great on straight sections of track, but would short and trip the breaker on my ZW-L transformer when it started to enter a curve.  I know that there aren't many of these out in the wild, but I'm curious if anyone has had a similar problem?

Any thoughts on where to start troubleshooting?  I checked the pickup rollers and nothing seemed out of place.  Any thoughts on how to try to isolate the problem?

One thought comes to my mind on this one; you say it's been on display for a few years...I have my trains stored on Glenn Snyder display aluminum shelves when they are not in use. One issue I find is that the pickup rollers can get skewed sideways  ( or not parallel to the center rail...) when the engines are either installed on the display shelves or during removal. I've had several engines I had to straighten pickup rollers on due to this issue.

If that is not the case here, the old tried and true method of finding shorts is start looking for the tell-tale burn spots on the two pieces of metal that are actually involved in the short circuit.
