Hi Folks,

Like most of you we are hunkered down at home awaiting a vaccine, or the effects of one on the community. Our region of California is asking us to stay at home as hospital ICUs are nearing capacity. Interestingly, 85% of the patients in our County ICUs are not there because of Covid, but for all the other reasons one goes into an ICU.  I understand trying to stay out in front of a surge. This Stay at Home order means we won't have a Secretary to answer our phone, but I will be monitoring all emails daily.  So don't stop ordering, suggesting or asking questions. That's what we are here for.

Our factories in China are unaffected and continue to work on the GP79 project and the Amfleet / Viewliners due out in February to April of 2021.

ERR (Electric Railroad) has been and will continue to ship daily from my home office. That hasn't changed all year. What has changed is USPS delays getting Priority mail to the East Coast. Some customers have waited 20 days or more. I hope this improves after Christmas.

The SF Super Chief 1938 Cars are running a little late. The container ship docked at Long Beach Port 5 days late and it will be until the 15th or 17th of December before they are delivered to our Warehouse. Luckily, my Son Ryan (6 foot 4+) and Wife Marcy will be here with me to unload the Container and sort the cars. Employees are asked to stay home during this time. It's not a huge delivery for us, so it's nothing to be concerned about.

Since the SF Super Chief cars are coming so close to Christmas we will ship them all the day after to avoid the Christmas Rush. Customers will be emailed about this in the coming days.

This is trying times for many of us, and devastating for so many others, so we wish you and your families a Safe, Healthy and Fun Holiday Season. By this time next year I predict this will be mostly behind us. What a story to tell the Grand Kids. What was life like during the pandemic?  I find it so interesting that the human reaction is to buy up all the toilet paper and paper towels. So funny. Well, not so funny if you run out.

Everyone, Take Care.

BRILLIANT! You have NO IDEA how JAMMED the Whole Shipping SYSTEM is right now, [USPS,UPS, FedEx] especially with on-line ordering! I'm sure there will be a lot more damaged packages being delivered than in previous years.

I can WAIT for my SINGLE SF Sleeping car. No Worries!

Thanks for your honesty.

Your business is different, of course.

But I do holiday shopping differently.  I hear somebody say they wish or needed X.  Before the Net, I would keep that in mind, and when sales came along, I got and held X, then gave it in December.  If i could not find anything, the gift certificate/card.  Today the card is in play along with the Net. Spreads purchases out.....  And away from long lines and the crutch in delivery services.

You are smart waiting for after Christmas to ship the SC sets.  Actually you may think of Jan 1.  Let the system reset.

Hi Scott -

Thank you for shipping these after Christmas to avoid the rush.  So many times when I order something and the item is due in the warehouse in December, I always secretly pray for it to be shipped after the Christmas shipping rush to avoid the extra rough handling by couriers.  It may seem like next to nothing to some, but to me it means everything to have a intact item when opening the box.

Our shipment of SF Super Chief cars left Qingdao China November 6th and are on the Osaka Express container ship, docked at LAX. The log shows it won't depart until December 14th for Oakland. That's a 2 weeks delay now. A lot of presents in these containers aren't going to make it under the tree in time.

Normally a Nov 6th departure means a Dec 6 delivery to our warehouse.

We probably won't get the cars until after Christmas now.  And you never know if they are going to require an XRAY or inspection Security scan of the shipment, which takes another week, and costs $1000. Oh Joy.
