I am experimenting with some of Mario's Shapeways parts. These save quite a bit of workbench time and fit up nicely.  This is a Legacy PRR version I've had for a while. I may chop out the plow section of the pilot to clear trip pins of whatever I'm trying to couple to. I removed the trip pins on the engines couplers but it wouldn't have been necessary if the plow was gone. I was able to lower the ride height by flipping the lock plates for the twist-off trucks which also gets the couplers to right height. I may weather this today if I'm in the mood.

Are you planning on doing the full length handrails? I don't know if it bugs me enough.

I had to grind out the fan housing a bit for the motor plate swap.

I am also working on a set of Legacy GP7s with Mario's adapters.

Not sure on handrails... its such a PITA for 1/2" or so of handrail. Lowering usually causes clearance issues somewhere. Unless they are really high, I won't lower anything any more.

I will finish my GP9 Zebra trio now that Mario has the conversions done for them.

Mario, I used Polly Scale acrylic Brunswick Green. The material seems porous and it took the paint well without cleaning.

Thanks!

Good to know!

I usually order the ones in black. Their easier to sand and also hold the paint and primer. The white ones have a tendency to let the paint soak in thus having to use several coats.

You should be able to sand the pilot spacer to bring it to the correct height. When I did the Weaver conversions and the Lionel U30C I had to do the same thing only with the mounts. Once Mario is finished with the Atlas GP7/9 mounts. My zebras will get the full conversion. Eventually I will retro fit the others with the spacers. Also there is always the possibility of a printing error. Mario made sure they were essentially plug and play. That was one of the reasons I went with the black as it was stable platform, easier to sand and make adjustments.
