Rangefield Railway O Scale Layout [RRR)

Here is ANOTHER Fastrack Plan,

Objective: Make a layout that has more sidings, I like to "operate" instead of just running trains.

"(But I should mention that I "operate" my trains and don't "run" them.)"

Here are some things you need to take note of:

  • I have NO idea how industries work, please explain it to me.
  • I am only going with O36 track because I think it is best for a beginner like me!
  • I don't need to worry about curves because I am only running Lionchief engines!
  • I am using Lionel's "Fastrack" system.
  • I am trying to go cheap here, I don't want a layout that costs more than $700 (The price of the layout is $476)
  • I am not good at "Railroad Vocabulary", It took me a bit to realize what spur track meant.
  • I am new to O-Gauge Railroading. (6 months)
  • I am using RailModeller 4.1.11 for tracks.
  • I am using Paint X for "scenery". (a free drawing software for mac.)
  • I don't want anything larger than a 6 x 9 layout.
  • The switches are O36.
  • I measured the layout, It can fit a 4 x 9 table, so I am prepared to get a table.

Vertical MeasuringHorizontal Measuring

  • The layout is called "Rangefield Railway (RRR)" , Tell me you thoughts about the name!
  • That name was based of the neighborhood I lived at, Rangefinder.
  • like to use "Amazon" and my Local hobby shop "HobbyTownUSA"  for buying train supplies.
  • There is some "kink"  in the switches, not really worried about it.
  • I'm not sure about a Tunnel, I tried adding a tunnel on one of my old layouts:

Ashland O Gauge Route [OLD)

  • For right now, I'm not interested in adding extra accessories.
  • In 3D mode:

3D Mode

  • Early Version of the layout.

I gave up on that track plan because the Wye switches are too pricey. (I also did a better job on the mountains on that track plan, LOL.)

  • I am probably staying with "Fastrack".
  • I tried my best to add curvature to the roads in this 4 x 9 Fastrack Plan.
  • I added a Inner Passing Loop.
  • I'm ok with the sidings, they are long enough for my rolling stock.
  • I can only run 1 train at a time, I'm ok with that.
  • I do plan on having 2 Lionchief engines.
  • I don't want to change to "TMCC" and "LEGACY".
  • I removed those S curves.
  • I canceled that 5 x 8 layout because it has a lot of chances of derailment.
  • I also changed that Weird looking Tower on the track on my old plans and changed it to a "LIONEL COALING STATION" that I got in 2011, It's in my father's house back in Hawaii.

 OLD building Coaling station.

I spent a lot of time making this.

Please give feedback, and thank you!

Love the layout...I need to build a layout that I can raise and lower in my garage.  I saw one some time ago and was really cool..
