Re: 4044 transformer

I just acquired a basic 4044 transformer and, although a bit dirty, it seems to be in working condition. I notice, though that the posts are not marked. I don't think it matters which way I connect the wires, does it?

One other basic question: is this a pre- or post-war transformer?

It is a 45 watt MPC transformer. It really doesn't matter which terminal goes to which rail set in standalone operation.
