I'd start with a factory reset from the DCS remote and re-add it to the remote.
If above doesn't work, try unlocking it in conventional. With the smoke off, while moving at the lowest possible voltage, press Horn-Bell-Bell-Bell. You should get two confirmation horn blasts if successful. May take a few attempts. If successful, perform a conventional reset while in neutral. If you have all functions, except sound, the audio amp if bad, which is replaceable.
Tried that a number of times still the same.
I do not have a DCS Just a cab 1 Respectfully Roy
Probably time to let an MTH tech take a look at it.
Does it immediately move when power applied? Does it make any startup sounds? May be a pinched or shorted motor lead. Or a shorted motor FET, or the board is dying. G
Did you do as Jon suggested, and get the confirming toots? This is not done with a remote or any DCS signal on the tracks, but with a conventional transformer.
as I posted I tried this several time and no dice . Thank you Roy
You need to get the timing pretty close, it's 1/2 second on and off for the cadence.
I try gain
thanks
I would just like to get pc and be over it if I can get on with in reason. Roy
Get PC? What's that mean?
Guys are giving you solutions with out a real good explanation of actual symptoms. Answers to my questions can help zone in on the issue. Or, you can send it to me and I can test/repair. G
GGG is the man I had a few boards repaired by him. He is great to work with and items come back quick not like sending it to MTH to get a repair done.
Symptoms, fresh recharged battery installed using a Z controller with a 1000 brick. eng will move when given power with no hesitation. I will run at fast enough speeds to leave the track. No horn, bell, lights, neutral or reverse forward only. no engine start up sounds or any sounds at all. using the horn bell bell bell bell my finger was tired and no difference. when using the horn bell bell bell I think I hear a very low sound possibly from speaker in response to pushing the bell or horn button. If I need to send this to you message me address. Respectfully Roy
Roy,
Make sure that the volume pot is turned all the way clockwise. If it's turned all the way counterclockwise, all sounds are muted in conventional mode.
That is a symptom of a shorted motor lead wire, or Motor drive FET typically. For a PS-2 5V it can also be a board failure, but taking off the shell and make sure the wht and yellow motor leads are not damaged and grounding to the chassis. Including at the motor solder connection. Typically it is the white wire doing this as yellow has + voltage at start up.
