Management here at the PRND&L Railroad have been engaged in some significant discussions regarding our steam motive power. Since the PRND&L is a small railroad, we run mostly Lionel “Scout” and Marx “Delux” (also K-Line) sized rolling stock. That also means small-sized motive power that won’t look too out of place.

Regarding our steam roster, the best performers we have are Lionel’s 0-6-0 “Dockside” switchers. They seem to run at a more steady speed on the level and through the ups and downs of our mainline.

And so, management would like to hear from other railroads: has anyone tried to kitbash the power unit from a Lionel Docksider into another steam locomotive shell or body? Any photos? Any advice on what not to try?
