K-Line Reset issue - Yet another

Same thing happened to one of my engines recently. Try doing the full (PROGRAM mode) reset routine again, even though the Railsounds may already be running. Worked for me.

tried another hard reset.  It seemed to work then I reset the track power and this time the engine came up with sounds active (a symptom I forgot to mention before) and only reacting again to the first command issued.

I have another K-4 that appears to be accepting commands. I plan on swapping some boards between the two of them .  Any suggestions as to which board(s) to do?

Swap the R2LC first, then reconfigure.

Question for G-R-John: Jim mentions “headlight flashing” in conjunction with the whistle blowing “confirmation.” Is headlight flashing a legitimate part of that?

I could have been wrong on that when I was setting the ID. The whistle does not blow at all when reprogramming.  My plan is to carefully swap boards today. 

The headlight should flash when you set the ID and when you do the AUX1-nnn sequence.

Are the electronics in the tender or in the engine for a K-line Pacific?

TMCC and motor drive in the locomotive, sound in the tender.

I swapped out the boards for both K-4's and the previously bad engine with the good board worked fine after reprogramming. Just to keep everything copistetic I put the bad board back in the original "bad" engine. Just to be sure that I did not go backwards, I put the good engine back on the track and reprogramming it worked fine.  Just for a test I put the bad engine on the track and low and behold it started working as expected.  So all this time it appears that it was a board reseating issue. I had a GG1 that was experiencing like issues and I proceeded to reseat the boards and it is now working as expected.
