New Coalveyors would be great.
If I got them, I would have to get the Wisconsin utility ones with blue ends that were used over the Burlington Northern.

Canadian companies like CP Rail, Sultran, and Procor had Steel Gondolas for coal loads that were very similar to the ACF Coalveyor gondolas. The guys at Atlas O could put those Canadian roadnames on the Coalveyor.

David J Joseph has been repainting the Coalveyors they have into blue and green. They could make those.

They just need to search harder for more coal gondola schemes.

Andrew, just out of curiosity, why do you always say things like "they have to" or "they must" in regard to the manufacturers? They don't have to do anything. Atlas and the others, are consumer product companies. If something sells, they make more. If something fails to sell, they don't make it again.

If you do a search on the Atlas HO and N scale site, you'll see they have made plenty of coalveyor bathtub gondolas and aluminum coal gondolas in a wide variety of road names. So I doubt Atlas needs to search harder for more schemes.

Maybe there are simple business reasons, like maybe they don't sell enough of them in O scale. Just because a handful of people really want these... well, a handful of people doesn't justify a production run. Atlas has had some major problems with their overseas vendors, which affected their entire product line. Which could also play into why the 2013 run of O scale coalveyor gondolas was cancelled.

Of course, the other reason was simply maybe they didn't get enough orders.

Sometimes it is the color schemes companies want to produce that leave orders on the table. Sunset/GGD seems to do a great job of offering a wide variety of choices and then cutting out those that do not sell.

They chose the funky DJJX graphic scheme the last time. This time they have to choose something with more appeal, so there are enough orders. It is fine for HO scale. There have been NSC coil cars and Trinity 5161 Cu Ft 3-bay covered hoppers in alternate history paint schemes. They can put the graphics of the other Coal Gondolas from Canada and from Berwick Forge and Foundry on the ACF Coalveyor gondolas.

I was actually going to purchase the Atlas O scale Coalveyor gondolas. Then I discovered that they are a very limited item since they have been built-to-order and few of the hobby shops who carry Atlas O ordered only one box more of each utility scheme than what the operators ordered. The gondola were sold out rather quickly.

I ordered Coalveyors from JD's during the last announcement. That was cancelled.

They have put "close-enough to the prototype" schemes on the other freight cars. Why not do the same for the ACF Coalveyor gondolas? Apply real Coal Gondola markings from coal gondola that are very close to the same design, but with slightly different rib sizes.

Andrew

My computer won't hold a charge for some reason so I haven't been able to use it a lot recently, causing my lack of replies. I wanted to buy the DJJX and/or the MWCX versions. I see those all the time in SE Michigan. I hope they do re-announce them soon. I know those two are scrap metal gons, but as Andrew said, they're close enough to the prototype. The HO ones look pretty good.

The ACF COALVEYORS that Atlas have for order in June/July are old schemes patched for current scrap hauling service.

Yes, I hope they don't get cancelled again. The Joseph transportation & the RMG leasing are the 2 roadnames I would want for a scrap & debris train. The green scheme on the David J Joseph  is cool and I do wish they included that one. Too bad
