Unlike many of you on the forum, I've only known Marty a short time--about 3 years. We met at York, and when I told him we were fellow New Englanders, he immediately said, "Why haven't you come down to visit?" A short time after that, I went to visit him and Dotty.

I've been around toy trains all my life, but it's always been mostly tinplate conventional. When command control was introduced, I never paid much attention to it, even at train shows, so my visit to Marty's layout was the first time I saw command control in action up close--and I was pretty much hooked. I asked him about converting my Premier PS1 Blue Comet, and in early 2018, he converted it for me, and sort of took me under his wing and made himself available to answer questions and help me when I added DCS to my layout. When I had questions, he always made time to help, even walking me through different steps over the phone to work out the bugs.

Here are a few photos from the day I picked up my newly-converted Blue Comet, my first DCS-equipped loco. Since Marty likes to gather signatures, I decided to turn the tables on him, and asked him to sign the tender. Now, more than ever, this is a highly-prized part of my collection.
