The Explorer can only run up to Three engines at the same time. The features of the Standard and Premium version of the app are restricted and not usable on the the Explorer.  All of the Free features are still usable.

The Explorer itself is designed to power the track that operates the engines with a Max of 6 amps of power (AC or DC). The input power uses the same barrel connector found on the MTH brick power supplies, the Z-1000 brick (without the Z-Controller) is an excellent power source.

All of the new RTR sets include the Explorer.

I read the thread but didn't see an answer to the question, "If I have two RTR MTH sets, each with a  DCS Explorer, with they interfere with each other?"

No they won't interfere with each other. If both sets are are running on separate loops, you can hook one explorer up to each loop. Each explorer will generate it's own unique WIFI signal for a smart device to connect to.

Or, you can run both loops from one explorer. That explorer will generate one WIFI signal to connect to. Now one or more smart device can control both trains.

This is correct. However, for a more detailed explanation, plus how to connect multiple DCS Explorers on the same layout, and the specifics of using multiple DCS Explorers with one or multiple devices running the DCS App, refer to pages 209-210 of The DCS WiFi Companion 2nd Edition.

I just received a new catalog and saw this DCS explorer device. A few years ago I bought the WIU and cannot get it to work, I have had a train running once in a while but every time I try recently it doesn't find locos and no matter what I can't get it to work so I pretty much gave up on it - another waste of money!  Is this explorer the answer? I do have about six locos I would like to run but if I can run even three with this unit I would consider it.  Is it a better plug and play option that the WIU? Or will I just run into issues with this also?    I was on a chain discussing the problems with the WIU and it seemed others had similar issues, without going into all that again, following all the suggestions posted I never could get it working - was it ever solved as to why so many people had trouble with the WIU?

We've added the ability to set max speed on the Explorer app.  It was a simple change.

I really hope you add this (and others like accel/decel) to the Premium app for consists. I think it's ridiculous to talk of getting rid of the remote when the app can't fully replace it yet!!

We'll add lots of things.  In the meantime, if you prefer the remote, then just enjoy.  We certainly won't be removing any features from the remote.  It's just that we won't be adding any either.

The above posing was on 11/20/2017. Just wondering if there are any app feature additions coming for the upper levels of the App. unlocking of features in the free App?

As an Explorer user I can't upgrade to the upper levels of the app and  I am still looking for something that makes we want to upgrade to a TIU.

I'd like to see the odometer added to the base App.
