Sam, your trains and layout are beautiful, and  your photos look like train heaven.

It seems that a fundamental choice in modeling is either to go down and dirty (weathering, unkempt, rusty), or to strive for perfection (neat and clean, idyllic, heavenly), both of which can be great.

That B&O Diesel is gorgeous. Does it have smoke? Who is manufacturer and when was it made?

Thanks for the kind comments Arnold.  I see you're "up to your old tricks again"

The layout is our club's 'almost ready to open' layout located at Buffalo Creek Vacations in Clyde NC.  The B&O's are Lionel's scale units from 2004.  I chose them because to me they have the most pleasing color shades - MTH uses a darker gray and a blue that is very dark.  Lionel's blue is somewhat richer. We have the B&O RF16 Sharks too for the same reason.

These will get a fixed pilot and kadee coupler soon I hope!

Sam, you sure have a marvelous and colorful train collection on your back wall. I bet, like me, you run everything you have on your beautiful layout.

Even though it may not be the best thing economically, I believe trains never run are like caged animals. Our trains are “born to be wild” and meant to be “rollin’ down the line.”

If money is no object (not for me), maybe best thing is to buy 2 of everything: 1 to operate and the other to remain unrun and in mint condition.
