Barry,

I will not be attending this year but I do have a question.  There is a thread going on right now about MRC dual power transformers not being listed as compatible with MTH equipment.  Specifically one person had a problem with a dual power transformer, which is a pure sine wave device, not working properly with ps3 equipment in lash up mode.  I was considering picking up one of these transformers so i was wondering if someone from MTH could comment as to what, if any, known problems existing with using the MRC dual power transformer as a power supply in a dcs environment.

I hope you have a good turnout and look forward to reading the minutes as always.

"I've been very vocal about the well-known issue of newer PS3 steam engines and PS3 diesels not "coasting" to a stop, rather violently "locking up" when throttling down or using the direction button, in conventional operation. This is an issue with all steam in conventional and only diesels with the smoke on (but not off). I've been told, by an MTH VP that the company is well aware of the problem but is not willing to invest the time and $$$ to resolve due to "everyone using DCS" where it isn't an issue.

... I also would like this issue fixed and I run completely DCS. Its unbelievable how fast a PS3 can stop. when power is interrupted even for a split second. What happened to flywheel coasting stop."

At the York meeting, did MTH share any new information regarding the lack of coasting with PS3?  (quotes from earlier in this thread)  Will the full list of user group questions and answers be shared on the OGR Forum?  Thanks!!

Ted,

On Thursday I took the opportunity to definitively demonstrate the problem- in DCS mode - to both Jason and Andy.

I plan to follow up with them in a couple of weeks.

Barry,

Would you be willing to comment on their reaction when you showed this to them?  Did you get the impression that this was something that they were previously aware of, or do you feel that it was more of a "ohhhh....that's what you mean. Yeah, that's not good."

OF course, I know this is a reach, but hey, I can't be the only one wondering how they reacted to your demonstration (but maybe I'm the only one willing to suffer the consequences of asking).
