Hi GUYZ,
Wonder if there is any word on the un cataloged MTH Reading and Northern 425? The sight below stated due out in Aug.2017. The cataloged ones were pushed back to Dec. 2017.
Here is the MTH site on the un cataloged one.

I know a few people who are still waiting on these.
Was there a public announcement explaining why a model was not cataloged? I just had to do a double take and compare the image in the MTH catalog and the "uncataloged" version. The difference in the shades in blue are striking. I would jump on this model but I still have a hard time with some models when I haven't seen them in person first. I am probably the odd one out there.

There was an email about it. I would assume that they realized that their catalog 425 was not how she has appeared for the last two years, and wanted to offer a current version.
I'm really interested in seeing how these locomotives will come out. I've been a bit more into MTH's products right now, particularly for this model.
I still haven't seen any sight of them. MTH's site says the uncataloged deep blue version has been moved to a March 2018 release date (a month after the 2018 RailKing model is supposed to come out), so I'm assuming the cerulean version will come then, too. Although some dealers indicate a Summer release.
I never saw this in past catalogs?
I have to admit its becoming harder to keep track of all what MTH and Lionel come out with.
The cerulean model was announced in the 2017 Volume 2 catalog. The catalog didn't really hype it up. Just a single side view.
Though the dark blue version was announced a few months later as an uncataloged product.
Well I saw the newest B&O Premier 4-6-2 (in green) in some photos of the MTH booth at the Timonium show, and the R&N 4-6-2 was part of that run so perhaps they are coming soon!
I was looking at pictures of the real 425 and the new models from both MTh and LTI. In this case, the MTH version is MUCH closer to the prototype. The portions are correct. The sand dome is more realistic, unlike Lionel's oversized wart. The boiler length is also more accurate on the MTH.
Overall, one for MTH on this engine.
Not to mention the MTH version of 425 is a few hundred dollars less.
I am curious to see the Lionel RBMN passanger cars. They seem more accrate then the MTH version. Leaning more towards them.
I will probably have an MTH 425 with Lionel coaches .

I like what you're thinking. MTH loco w/ all the Lionel fix-in's (aux tender, heavyweights and StationSounds full dome vista) sounds like a perfect complete dish.
I have both the MTH ones ordered from MR MUFFINS at a great price and according to him they will be out in March? Maybe because February is Chinese New Year and a lot doesn't get done? Stay tuned....
Yes, I’m told they will be at MTH in March. There were an amazing number of orders for these. If you’re interested in the heavyweight cars, they are out and selling through quickly.

Looks like MTH put a demo of the sounds included with these locomotives on their website. Needless to say, the sounds are amazing. Can't wait to see these in the flesh.
That's awesome! I think we are getting close, on the MTH website you can buy now, on both versions. Not at the local shop yet though.
If the locos are already in the states, well than looks like my wallet is gonna get real thin pretty soon!
Just got the call from my LHS that R&N 425 just showed up. This is the uncatalogued dark blue one I ordered.
Thanks MJ. I'm awaiting my call or e mail from MR. MUFFINS. I saw on the MTH site they are at some LHS. Can't wait, Enjoy yours!!!!!
