Hi Everyone,

We are curious how many of you use the "tunnel insert" that comes with the World Headquarters building vs. running a train through it.

As you can imagine, there is a cost associated with making the tunnel insert and we are wondering if we should continue offering this feature.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

I really like the tunnels on the power and salt factory buildings. They make integration to the layout much easier. Most layouts have more track than space, so the tunnel helps finding a space. The tunnels should be at least 7 inches tall.

The 7" is for some tall cars like cranes, auto loaders with non-stock autos, elevated rocket booms, and most important; electric locos pantographs!

I don' use the tunnels . I kit bashed the American Power to close it off. In the process  of closing off Pepsi  plant. My World Headquarters (that I have changed to Wells Fargo) and the hotel are on a city block using the inserts. I would like to see inserts that close the tunnels that match the building wall. The buildings Menards are releasing are fantastic can't wait to see what is coming next!

Absolutely keep the tunnel insert, the more flexibility in a building the better! I like Deuce's idea of making them available separately also! Would make it easier for smaller layouts with less track. If I had track running through all my Menards buildings you'd never see the trains! LOL I also love the idea of selling packs of people separately! That would be an instant big time hit! Are you listening Dad?

I think most of us would accept a higher, fair price in order for the tunnel inserts to remain.

I've even thought you should go one step further and make the inserts able to be a separate standalone building if it's removed.  For instance, the York Hotel insert can, with some kitbashing, be a separate standalone entrance to an underground parking garage.  If it's sandwiched between two other buildings, all you'd have to do is to add a roof and maybe put a billboard on the roof.  It might not be what you at Menards had intended, but it's a great way to get a second building out of it!

Gosh, yes - keep it. If you don't want the "tunnel", it's still an already-built area that can be closed/re-imagined.

BTW - someone referred to running tracks through a building as "goofy" well, no it isn't, especially in the time before the US was de-industrialized, and had so many crowded urban/industrial areas - everywhere. Now, I'll admit, it is less common, but not un-common.

On the York Hotel, I used the tunnel for a trolley pass-through. Made sense - a lot of hotels pay for the service to be run through their properties.

So, YES, I vote YES. Keep making them!

On a separate note: I WANT YOUR JOB! (smiles) How much fun it must be!

On yet another separate note: Who do I talk to about a Red Owl supermarket which arrived here in Laramie yesterday with one of the walls caved in? It seemed to ship that way as the outer packaging was not damaged in anyway.

Thanks for allowing us to vote!
