I just received an email from Greenberg regarding the Somerset show. Somerset's Garden State Exhibition Center no longer exists so the show is back in Edison NJ at the Raritan Center during New Year's Weekend AND it will be the ONLY show until AUGUST 2018! ( No March show this year.)

Times a changin'

Hello to all the forum members,

Just caught this topic and I thought I would chime in. True about the New Year's weekend because The Raritan Valley Hi-Railers will be at Edison on December 30 & 31, 2017. The size of the layout will be 40' X 50'. Our layout has gone through some changes with newer module scenes and we'd like to share this with all who are interested in seeing it. Secondly, the Somerset facility was sold to a business and I believe it is now a warehouse, for who, I don't know. Third, WGH will be there in March on the 10 & 11 2018 at Edison, and we have applied, but are still waiting for a conformation. That is a great show to be at! The Thanksgiving weekend show on Saturday was packed to the walls with people, so I'm hoping things will get better for the hobby from this point on. Finally, to anyone who has done business with The Big Little Railroad Shop in Somerville, N.J. , Jan, the owner, is closing her doors possibly by the end of this month, or until she sells all stuff out to the walls. It's sad to see another hobby shop leaving the scene, but .....

Stop by the layout & say "hi" to us, we'd like to meet some of the forum members!!!

The WGH and Geeenberg shows are managed by the same company. So typically when there is a WGH show which comes around every few years they usually do away with that Greenberg show for that year. So they still have the 4 slots for shows. So I believe you will still get 4 shows a year out of them. All at the Raritan Center now. And please everyone stop by the Raritan Valley Hirailers layout at the December show and say hi.

4H Trainmasters used to keep all of our modules and equipment in Jan's basement. One of our longtime members is her grandson.. up until two years ago that was our home base. Sad to see her go but she's making deals so head to Somerville!

This is my favorite hobby shop and I am saddened to see it go. Jan has been great to me over the years and I will miss her and the store. I did already knew about this but wished it wasn't true, however I understand her wanting to retire. I am going there this afternoon to pick up a locomotive I ordered-- a MTH Mohawk.

I got the email as well about the Somerset show. I didn't really care for that show and only attended it once in recent years. I think moving it to Edison will be an improvement. I hope I can stop by to see the Raritan Valley Hi-Railers display. They always put up a great layout.

I've been told in the past by others that the Edison show was closer for the Staten Island guy's, which seems to indicate that the Edison show is busier than Somerset.  Somerset was great for me because I lived only 15 minutes from the venue.  Check out our facebook page for "The Raritan Valley Hi-Railers" and leave a comment. "Hi Ball to all".
