I love the models that Lionel makes for the Pennsy..Accurate models, great sounds and look awesome. But, those **** antenna's!! They get caught on my shirt. They come loose..Am I the only one who as problems with these things? I bent the right one on my new E unit when it got caught on my shirt.

Have to ask,,,,,,,,why is your shirt open and in the way in the first place?

 

If the horizontal antenna is bending too easily it's either made of brass wire or the diameter is too thin or a combo of both. When KLine did this detail, they used slightly oversized piano wire which to this day stands up to regular handling.

If anyone is using the Bowser Antenna stantions, slightly drill out the stantion holes where the horizontal pipe goes through and use  piano wire. You will thank me in the long run!

       The attennas are a must for me if you want me to buy a PRR diesel. Lionel and K-Line do and did a good job having them on the right PRR diesels. With the exception of the Legacy GP7, which should of had them and the SD40 Legacy just out (too modern for antennas) all the Legacy diesels seem to be equipped with them. MTH is a mixed bag of having them and not having them and Atlas did not include them on engines that should of had them, RS1 & RS11 but did a real nice job on their F7 models.

         Just button your shirt, no knits or sweaters but don't ruin it for those of us who demand the antennas.

As stated above NOT ALL PRR diesels had the trainphone Antennas. Only Diesels that were out on the mainlines equipped with Trainphone antennas in the 1940's to the Early 1960's. Some GP7's had them and some didn't. Same with the RS1's and RS3's and RS11's. One has to research the specific diesel to determine if they had them or not.

Thanks for your input but that fact was already known yes all RS1. RS3, RS11, GP7 etc did not have antennas but in the case of my Atlas RS1 according to the book I had it was supposed to have them it didn't. Again that is fine and realized but to get my investment if it is a model that had them even if not everyone of the units had them they have to be on the engine to get me to buy it. Not a big deal just a crazy personal requirement of mine.
