Hi Tom:

I would expect them to have passenger station sounds, like their other PS3 passenger trains, of which I have several engines. My PRR set has stationstops, and PRR had many different routes. Since the livery is UP, I imagine they could come up with something. That is my not unreasonable expectation.

But my question was whether or not this is the default sound or an alternative sound. Perhaps the passenger train sounds are accessed by some other function.

I am guessing your passenger station announcements are from the the series of E-8's from the MTH 2016 volume 1 catolog which featured locomotives that were at the 2014 "Streamliners At Spencer" event at the North Carolina Transportation Museum.

I have the two different Wabash premier E-8's in road numbers 1009 & 1011.  MTH included the same cheesy Streamliners At Spencer passenger station announcements in both road numbers.  My only option right now is to get the Norfolk & Western E-8 PS 3.0 soundset which has passenger station announcements for the Banner Blue after Norfolk & Western acquired Wabash and continued to run that train.

I don't see the problem, just change the sounds to something you may like. I do it, I had an NYC E8 came with Seaboard sound,  changed it to an NYC PSA .   I now have a U25 that sounds like an Alco because I like it. I have a Niagara that now sounds like a ATSF northern, cause the whistle is different. Heck didn't MTH make a Harly Davidson diesel set, I wonder what that sounds like ? Note I had my local MTH service guy do this, me and computers don't get along.

I owe you an apology for not noticing that it was a UP unit you were looking at.  I jumped right past that thumbnail and believed you were asking about an EMD Demonstrator painted unit.  You asked a good question.

However it appears that there is a solution, so I hope you can change the sound file.

I will sign a waiver for ten demerits for failure to thoroughly read the question.

Think nothing of it. As my Irish friend used to say, "It could happen to a Bishop."

PDXTrains, It looks like the PS3 soundfile from the 2011 Premier UP E-8's has the following passenger announcements, which you could load into the UP#951:

"Train #10, The City of St. Louis. Service from LA to St. Louis. Stops in Salt Lake City, Green River, Laramie, and Denver."

Chas, perhaps this uncataloged(?) PS3 soundfile is more of the traditional passenger announcement you are looking for?

"Train #1, The Wabash Cannonball. Service from Detroit to St. Louis. Stops in Ft. Wayne, Lafayette, Dansville, and Decatur."
