This past Saturday I was at Trainland and  Ryan Knuckle of Lionel was there.  I asked him a few questions.  One of which all of you may have been wondering about.  NOTE: If this was already posted and I missed it I'm sorry for being repetitive.  Regarding the Newly tooled Camp and Kitchen cars mentioned on page 198 of the new catalog, they originally were to be included in this catalog but a change was made to move them to Volume 2 later in the year.  (So yes we now know there will be a volume 2 for Flyer).  I asked if they could post the pictures to their Facebook page.  He said maybe he could post something that would be considered a peek before volume 2 came out.

The "mint" cars (as goofy as they are) served as the basis for the aquarium car which might prove more popular than the mint car could ever hope to be. It could offer a  wide assortment of moving scenery that would operate by itself on a powered siding.

In the 3-rail world, the opposite was true.  The Lionel O gauge aquarium car came first, the mint car second.

Here is a link to other camp cars.

The S gauge cars referenced in that link are pretty neat if they fall in your Railroads time era...

Those BTS cars are in kit form and average about $70.00/car. It takes a really committed modeler to assemble kits like these. I'm way too lazy for that so maybe the RTR cars to be offered will find a place on some S scale railroads.

Except, those BTS kits are not work train cars.  They are logging camp cars.  They are only moved when needed to be closer to the tree cutting.
