Thanks for this tip; I just finished a major upgrade on m 783 Hudson, which included replacing the horribly inadequate smoke unit with a spare MTH PS1 I had laying around. I also replaced the old mighty sound of steam board with a TAS AC TMCC upgrade kit I had purchased some time back. Although it is a much better runner (and smoker) now, I may look at replacing the armature as mentioned to see if it improves the slow speed response.
