While many see this as a cost cutting measure, and yes in reality it is, it's because the module really isn't needed.  The information can be entered manually or via a sensor track.  The sensor track is by far the easiest.  Once the TMCC ID is assigned, running the engine over the sensor track instantly loads the information into Legacy.

I understand that Lionel spoiled us with the modules and some folks really like the ease of doing this.  I would say if it's truly a necessity then contact Lionel and let them know how you feel.  FWIW they stopped adding these for about a year or 2 now.

So yes it's cost cutting but IMO one that is justified.

the problem is for clubs

it is a pain to cut open track to add the sensor track and Lionel does not make a version for atlas track, (please do not lecture me about cutting one up and modifying it for atlas track, we have many layers of committees to go through)

we have many members that are just not interested in learning how to input the info manually.

How about the soon to be released IRV2?  That seems to be a good alternative.  No modification needed other than adding a module and drilling a hole. Or have a programming track hidden from view that sole purpose is to load the information into the club base?   No lecture, just a suggestion.

As for members not wanting to learn how to manually input information, what a shame.  It's always good to pick up a new piece of information and find new ways of doing things.  Less than a few minutes to manually add an engine. I guess I don't see the big deal for as easy it is but I can certainly understand it can be challenging for those not interested in learning it.  Unfortunately this is the route Lionel has taken so there really is the options listed above.

I guess I could make a bundle making modules at $25 a pop.
