I didn't want this lost to those that did not watch the Legacy Group Summary and the ERR crisis from York but Dave Olson from Lionel announced that the Black Writable Modules were re-ordered to be available around June.  He said enough were ordered to last 15 years.  So everyone that was hoping they'd change their minds and were concerned about how they would upgrade please go out and purchase them when they become available.

Some information.

If you are updating the Legacy base at home, only 1 module is technically needed.  You can make a base module, upgrade, then overwrite a Cab2 module and then upgrade.  That being said most folks like to have 2, one for each so that they can have the upgrades on hand.

They are very useful for creating a Multi-Engine Module.  Basically all Engine personality DATA (road name, number, type, control type, RS type, etc) in your Base can be written to 1 module.  In other words, 1 module can replace 99 orange modules.  It will have all the information from up to 99 engines that would typically be on the Orange Module.  The cool thing is, the TMCC engines that you have named and assigned all the information for manually are now on a module. They do not store the database from the Legacy base, just the engine setup information.

You can also use it to create individual engine modules if you wish.

That maybe true but when Lionel announced last fall at the Legacy meeting they would not produce anymore there was a pretty big push back which Lionel responded by producing another run.  I would hope now that they are doing this folks will show their appreciation by purchasing them.  If they don't next time something like this happens Lionel or any manufacturer for that matter may not reconsider.

Hmmm.  I need to talk to @Dave Olson about announcing so much bad news at the Legacy meeting LOL!  Just kidding Dave.
