Bobby,

The Z-2500 is normally control by a one button/one wire controller for use with TMCC through the data wire driver.  There is no Lionel product that replaces the data wire driver.

The Z-2500 can be set up for two wire control and then controlled by an ASC2 (or DCS AIU).  Not sure why you would want to use the ASC2 since the data wire driver will control all your Z-2500s, while the ASC2 will control a maximum of 8 (I think that is the number).

As others have stated, one data wire driver is all you need. It will make all your switches work with the remote.

Lionel does offer the LCS Custom Switch Machine 2 (CSM2) 6-85295.  This was designed to work specifically with the dz2500s but it states it can only monitor 7 switches in the LCS app.  I do not know if can control more than that without buying another CSM2.  It also states it can be used with the ERR command board.  Since Err is now under 3rd Rail, I do not know if this command board will be made.

The CSM2 does not control the DZ-2500s.  As you mentioned, the description states it can only monitor 7 switches in the LSC app.  The LCS app will control the DZ-2500s through the 990 and Z-Stuff's data wire driver.  The CSM2 sends data back to the LCS app to show proper switch position.

The ERR command board is a little more interesting.  I have several of them but have not yet installed them.  Its stated purpose is to make wiring everything together easier.  It may also prevent the failure of a single DZ-2500 from shutting down all other DZ-2500s in the same circuit,  which is why I bought them.  However, not sure this is true.
