My Weeks Plans for real trains this week in NJ and PA. - Photos of the Black River & Western added 7/21

Going "downa shore" via PATCO/NJT, I trust?  

Looks like fun!   I have always wanted to visit Steam Town, and Nicholas Smith Trains, which is near Philadelphia. Hope the sun shines on your trip!

Depending on when you will be leaving the BRW, you may be able to catch NS 8102 (PRR) it will be on the loaded trash going west.

I arrived in NJ this morning and proceeded directly to the Black River & Western RR.   While they did have #60 scheduled to pull trains today, it had a leak in a few of the super heater tubes and was sidelined.  

The staff there was great.  Since they new we came all the way from Michigan, they gave us a private tour of the #60 in the shop.  They even let me and my son go into the cab.   His highlight of the day was ringing her bell!

We took a great train ride behind Pennsylvania #9206.   While on the ride they allowed us to go in the mail compartment right behind the locomotive.  

Even though we were disappointed with the #60 being down, we had an amazing time.  Maybe when we come back next year steam will be running!
