It's #SwitcherSaturday Time!!!!

Lots of us out there love switchers (shifters, docksiders, yard goats, critters, etc.), so lets keep #SwitcherSaturday (a.k.a. SWSAT) rolling!

If you missed last week's SWSAT (like I did), you should really go take a look, it was lots of good fun!
https://ogrforum.ogaugerr.com/.../switcher-saturday-1

Today's picture from the Murnane house is of my B&O diesel sister switchers (K-Line Plymouth and Atlas-O SW900). They are both great looking little critters for sure.

I hope everyone has a great weekend, have some switcher fun and when you get a chance - please post some switcher stuff here!

All the best...Rich Murnane

p.s. Miss the post on Saturday? NO BIG DEAL, just keep posting pictures of your favorites until the next #SwitcherSaturday

Yay! SWSat is rolling out!

This week I am posting some pictures I took Yesterday in North Creek NY of the crew packing up to ship out the diesels of the Saratoga and North Creek RR which has given up the ghost and stopped operation this April. It is the one chance I have ever seen two BL2s coupled together and I am sad to see them go.

Here are a few things I found at the South Street Seaport Museum last Sunday. This little Railroad Ferry was used by the Erie RR to take immigrants from Ellis Islands Predecessor Castle Gardens (today known as the Battery) to the Railroad and on to inland destinations I thought the German lettering on the ends was interesting 8BCF9ED9-D1DB-4DB0-B6B5-C7FF9EDBEB95412DFEAA-17A7-4F19-8174-3422E53FE4A7F73750E8-C77C-4835-A52C-0C24926E5759 This is all that is left of a water switcher I mean Tugboat. Nice stuff posted so far as always!  Here’s a photo and a couple short videos of my MTH Premier Lehigh Valley Baldwin VO-1000 switcher.  She’s “done up” with fixed pilots, full-length handrails and Kadees...and heavily weathered (at least by my standards) in an attempt to mimic a well-worn, but still going strong, prototype...

Happy SWSat!

Love the B&O Rich. I don't have that Plymouth yet but its on my list.

Great photos as always Brian.

That is a beautiful 0-4-0 Melgar!

Nice 44 Tonner Bill. I like the pick-ups too.

Back home in the yards after a week away. We were up in New Hampshire where there's lot's of train stuff to do. Unfortunately I couldn't get the family interested . Found several scenic railroads (here) ,and this little guy. This Porter belonged to the East Branch and Lincoln RR. The EB&L was once the largest logging rail road in New England, this is one of the lone survivors from their fleet. The sign in front reads- "Over 1 Billion feet of logs traveled over these rails from 1893-1947".

Lot's more info about the EB&L  here

Bob

PS- shout out to Dave, Andy, and Joe who posted while I was writing.

Happy Switcher Saturday everyone.

Rich- Thanks for getting us started again.

My contribution is a picture of a Pennsylvania Railroad B6s with a nice even number, #9000, seen with its "rods down."  Built in 1906 by Juniata Shops, unknown when it was scrapped, seen here in supposedly 1934 with its headlight covered. Photographed here in New Castle, Pa, it was assigned to the Pittsburgh, Youngstown & Ashtabula Railway, part of Pennsy's Lines West.

PRR B6 9000

Below is a stock certificate for the P, Y &A:

PY&A stock cert

Since this locomotive was build at Juniata, like so many others, here is one of the entrance gates that workers would have passed, "back in the day," circa 1919, 13 years after this locomotive was built.

Wording on the top sign says: National Railroad Accident Prevention Drive

October….1919

Bottom Sign:

The women workers did their bit in the war game. Put them in the first Boat for the “Shore of Safety.”

YES!!  It's Saturday .... Switcher Saturday!!!   Great photos and info everyone!!

Rich .... love those B&O switchers!  Today I have a B&O theme ( well almost ) as well.  A pair of GP 9s pull a looooong coal train, an SW 9 under a locomotive coaling tower doing some switching work, a Plymouth switcher pushing/pulling the big hook, and a Western Maryland BL2 pulling a short scrap train through the east leg of the Y.  Have a wonderfully fun and creative week everyone! IMG_7284IMG_7187IMG_7254IMG_7186IMG_7295IMG_7296IMG_7318IMG_7277IMG_7285IMG_7275IMG_7287IMG_7290IMG_7293IMG_7323IMG_7303IMG_7310IMG_7377IMG_7393IMG_7381IMG_7375

Have a great Weekend.

Wow.  Two BL2's in identical paint at the same location.

Doesn't that disrupt the time-space continuum?
