I gave everything a look.  I will probably order the new tooled items of a kitchen car and a bunk car.  I have a lot of Union Pacific stuff, but those light green cars are not very attractive.

Notice the U33's say "Build to Order."  I have 2 of the older ones so these are not on my purchase list.

The custom car page is a good idea, but no prices are listed.  Good for Clubs that want custom cars.  Our club used American Models for ours a few years ago.

I am just glad Lionel is issuing more Flyer and new tooled items.  If you look at the O Gauge stuff in the front of the catalog it would be great if the made that stuff is S also.

Overall, the Flyer offerings in this round are pretty nice. Good stuff for the Flyer Folks.

The Gibson Wine tank car kinda had me wondering, but lo and behold:

I was thinking about getting the Santa Fe U33C's, but at 600 bucks a pop (I know, Ro and the others will have it for less...) the cost is more than the Flyer Legacy Berk, more than their O Gauge counterparts, plus whatever the added cost of scale wheels are nowadays, so I'll have to pass on them.

Like the Legacy Berkshires last year, the release of these U33c's keeps hope alive for continued Legacy offerings in S.

I am very happy to see that these are now DCC unlike previous releases and that scale wheels are again available. Those two aspects open the door to a few more buyers, but in a niche scale like this we need all the buyers we can get in order to keep new products coming.

I looked at the new catalog again.  The O gauge bunk and kitchen cars have lights and a chimney.  The kitchen car has sounds too.  I wish the the S Gauge cars had the same features.  Yes, the O gauge cars are more expensive, but the added features would make them a real addition to layout operation.

I know that I swore NOT to buy any more Lionel Flyer, but those bunk cars and kitchen cars are tempting!  If I get them, they're NOT to be left "stock",  I'll illuminate both of them and they'll make a good companions to the tool car I ginned up since I didn't get one when they were available back in the day.  And adding a chimney is easy.  Making it smoke might not be, but it's not all THAT hard.

I didn't see ANY track supplies in the catalog, nor any PE sets??

David:  track is found only in the "Track & Power" catalog Lionel now prints only every other year.  You can find it under "catalogs" on www.lionel.com.  I think the Polar Express S set was in the 2018 Vol. I Catalog, with other Christmas items.  You can also find it under "catalogs" on www.lionel.com.
