Attention all individuals registering for York October 2018 - Apparently, the post office has been setting mail aside and when the mail was picked up today, the registrar was told they found 5 large, deep, overstuffed trays of mail sitting in the back room. The dates go back to July. Result - some of the mail both coming in for registration and going out with the badges has been delayed by the Post Office. The mail is now on it's way - appreciate your patience!

Speaking of post office problems...My brother-in-law found a bag laying in the street around 10 days ago. It had around 90 pieces of mail for houses on his block. Also, I live in an area where there have been several blue mail boxes that were broken into this summer.

Having said that, my father-in-law worked for the post office "back in the day" and would have probably been startled by what seemed to be a more efficient & safe system back then vs. today.

Sounds like somebody at the Post Office needs to be looking for different employment.

I would suggest a formal complaint, beginning with the local postmaster, and working your way up to your congressman. This sort of inaction is illegal under Federal law.

The complaint to the local postmaster should likely be filed and also simultaneously be sent directly to the main USPS offices and possibly the U.S. Postal Inspector  Consider if the "cause" might have originated at the direction of that same local postmaster. Two or three years ago over the holiday season my local post office was repeatedly coding some tracked mail as "delivery attempted - undeliverable-business closed" to residential customers without even an attempt to deliver or take the shipment out of the post office.  Word was that some local supervisor (i.e. postmaster) felt it was easier to delay delivery a day or two of the increased holiday volume of mail than schedule and pay staff to handle the short term uptick in packages and/or suffer reduced performance ratings due to late delivery scores.  Further covering up the delay with a business hours related delivery delay code when the item could've/should've been sent out and placed in a homeowner's mailbox or doorway.
