Love going on location when the Traingineers are finishing up a project! Last year Chief Traingineer, Roger Farkash, designed a basic redo to a gentleman's attic layout - installed it and he asked Roger to add an extension. I tagged along this morning with Roger and Traingineer George as they were "planting" people, putting up plexi-glass guard, and tweaking switches and such. I'll post videos later but here are some fun pictures, Enjoy!

Very nice but an attic layout in TX wow crank the AC!!!

I was wondering the same thing. How is the attic cooled? (Attics can heat to 140 degrees in the summer in Dallas.)

Insulated the space big time, and added a duct from his A/C?

Not to mention an unfinished attic!  That layout will have a nice layer of dust before Christmas.

What, me worry?

"Unfinished" is often popular to keep a lower property tax value.  Property taxes are high in Texas due to no personal income taxes.

Add sheetrock and paint and now it is a "living space" and not just storage utility area.

There seems to be plenty of insulation in the side walls/roof and a big whole house cooling/heating system right there, to tap in to if needed.

In California, we have often no basements or usable attic spaces so a "California Basement" is usually a converted garage.

Most homeowners never get permits or inspections of their converted spaces or "sheds" due huge local fees and higher property taxes too.

Very nice looking layout, they guys did a fantastic job.   I like all the little scenes that they have created, helps to bring the layout to life.  Was the track that was used, was that Lionel Fast Track?  The ballast did a nice job of disguising it.  Great pictures, thanks for sharing and I'm looking forward to you posting the videos.

Thank you! And yes, it is all Lionel FasTrak
