A “Nickel” for your thoughts

The "WIP" consist of the Lionel Fallen Flag NKP Set (Yes, I will be going for the full set, including that caboose and sears flatcar). Boxcar I got from a local Hobbytown (still NIB) and the tank car I got off eBay.

My two NKP Mikados. The first is an MTH #599 ‘as built’ in USRA style.  The second is Lionel’s recent Legacy version #587 with the NKP treatment.

I don't have any pix to contribute but I like the Nickel Plate Road.  Pretty sure it was the railroad that was built with CASH.   No bank loans.   Imagine that.

Here is a close up of the damage.  Part of the catwalk and roof around the smokestack had to be cut out and repaired.

Im gonna need to remember that you painted the roof black for the future. I plan on getting the Fallen Flag freight cars for the NKP Set (I have two at the mo, the tank car and the boxcar) although I planned to sub the caboose with something else. It may not be painted in the proper red & white, but even a black roof makes the car dull all-brown car look more visually appealing.

Here's my "nickel" on a 12" to the foot scale railroad...

Your truly is at the throttle of NKP 765 on the ex-C&O Railroad at Cotton Hill, West Virginia. There are 32 passenger cars behind the 765.

Recent no-reason-in-particular snapshot of my whisker track extensions (you can tell - so far). My Weaver brass NKP Hudson was right there, by coincidence. Not a great photo. Weaver Rio Grande M-64 4-8-4 in background.

My only NKP piece (not counting some rolling stock), I do believe. I just like Hudsons, and I've seen the real surviving NKP 4-6-4. So.

In my collection, I have no "Nickels" yet. But I wanted to contribute...so here's some footage I've taken of a famous 1:1 scale "Nickel", carrying the voice of fallen sister.

Here’s  my K-Line Nickel Caboose sadly the seller on eBay was a poor packer and was damage during shipment. I fixed the ladders that were broken but the smoke unit doesn’t work  and light shorts out. 

Lee, that is a nice Crummy. Nothing Nickel Plate on the PER but I did take this pic of my Dad standing beside #765:

We rode that excursion train to Bellevue, Oh where we then poked around the Mad River&NKP Railroad Museum.

Thanks Lew for posting. Great pic of your dad you are a very blessed man to have these pics and to keep them all these years. I’ve read where the smoke units in some of these K-line cabooses melts the sides and roof maybe this is a blessing in disguise. I’ll get some more pics after I work on the caboose

Enjoyed the video !  The engine seemed very loud, wonder if engineers “back in the day” had any hearing left after their service.  765 seemed to have no problem accelerating its train quickly. Thks.
