As I've been sorting through more of my father's collection, getting things organized and then deciding what to sell in the O, S and Standard Gauge stuff he had (some of which I'm keeping), I remembered one things that we both looked at here and there, saying we needed to get it, and never did:  the American Flyer Polar Express set.

He always loved the look of it, being more scale looking than the regular Lionel one (plus he always had more a love for Flyer stuff anyway!)

So, I sold a couple of my own trains to have money at the ready, and decided to finally get the last train he said we should try to get, that Flyer Polar Express.

I wanted one anyway, but this will be a good way to honor him, by finally getting that set.  Can't wait to get it and give it a run!

Congratulations!  Now come on out to the club to run, you'll have a great time, we have about 7 members who have them and everyone loves them, including me.

Once others know that is your only engine, they won't bring theirs as you can only run one of the same road name/engine type at the same time.

Hope to see you Saturday.

Eddie, your profile says you're in Ambler, PA. That's not far from me so I was hoping if your club is open to the public would you post information about it so that if other OGR members in your vicinity would like to visit and possibly join, they'd know when and where your club members meet. Btw, is it soley S gauge or is it a mix of gauges, HO, N, and even possibly O?

Hi,

North Penn S Gaugers is strictly S gauge and S Scale.  We usually meet the first or second Saturday 9:30 AM at ALMD on Allentown Road in Lansdale (we are in the back of the building).  It is difficult to give a date as shows sometimes force changes, like this month.  We do not have a permanent layout set up, as  we do shows at locations, Allentown First Frost, Great American Train Show, Lower Providence  Library, Lansdale YMCA, Lansdale Day, York TCA Spring, and other sites including the NASG conventions.

Best way to confirm a meeting date is to ask here.

Finally, if you are O Gauge/Scale,  Hennings on Line Street in Lansdale sponsors the North Penn O Gaugers.  Both Harry 3rd and Bill are founding members. They, like us, are always looking for members.

Thank you for answering, Francine!  I'm just the new fellow in the club; it isn't really my club or anything.  Beyond that, I'm looking forward to having my Flyer trains running somewhere!  Finally get to see my Black Diamond passenger set (with the burgundy striped passenger cars), my Frontiersman set, Royal Blue freight set, etc. going along on a large layout!

Once I check out the Game Train set I just got (complete and unused!), I may bring that sometime to run, minus the game board!

Hi Ed,

The unidentified individual directed his question to you, I don't know why, as he is looking for an O Gauge club (North Penn O Gaugers).

Francine

Hi Francine,

I'm assuming I'm the unidentified inividual you're referring to, and I apologize if the way my question was worded it suggested to you that I'm searching for an O gauge club. Quite the contrary. While I'm primarily an O gauger who's aware of The North Penn O Gaugers and have visited their club located in Mr. Henning's basement on a few occasions, I also havde a few S gauge sets and am looking for a ndear by club to run them. I asked Ed whether the club he referred to also had HO and N gauges because a few of the clubs closest to me cater to mixed gauges and while one does have a small area set aside with S gauge track, the majority of it's space contains large HO and N gauge layouts.

Thanks, Francine, for clarifying that Ed was referring to the North Penn S Gaugers.

Hi,

Ed is in the process of joining North Penn S Gaugers and has visited us the the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania,  He doesn't have the information that you were looking for and when I saw your site name and you asking about O, I assumed you were looking for an O gauge/scale club.

We're here to educate each other.

Francine
