New Lionel E6 Atlantic

Lol, legacy is great...not a big fan of lioncheif. Your statement is tripe. It has nothing to do with the technology. It’s the workmanship in manufacturing. That can affect both models, Did, your axles cut through yet ion the lionchief stuff

I believe this is a known issue for that model, I'm sure they'll be doing a software mod to fix the issue with conventional running.  It's been reported by a number of people.

Sounds similar to the issue I had with my much older (2001) Long Island Consol, in that it wouldn't run properly in conventional mode.

Seems to me that if they are designed ( and advertised) as being able to run in both modes, they should.

Clearly Lionel should fix this, the only wild card is they'll all have to go back to Lionel for the fix.

Well, the thing is, since I don’t use Command, paying hundreds of dollars extra for features I don’t want is always a very hard decision for me. If this model had been made as a LC+, it would be probably three hundred dollars less than it is. 

I got it because I am a Great Northern fan and I happen to like these Atlantics a lot. I have several earlier models. 

This affair has convinced me to stay away from Legacy in the future. It doesn’t make sense for me. I will continue to buy LC+ instead  

Frankly, I wish they still made some purely conventional models for a lot less money. I just picked up a new Williams NW-2 for $199 and it runs fine out of the box, has a digital horn and nothing else. Perfect for what I want.

I've only seen it reported by Dave so far.  I'd hate to think this is across the whole line.  I'll have the chance to check them out tomorrow at the LHS.  Curious if there was a Legacy base on when they tested the other E6s in the shop.

Right. Please let us know what you find out. Perhaps there is an easy fix we haven’t thought of .

My experience was necessarily anecdotal: my dealer had three of them and on those three, the same problem occurred. 

Yes, they tested all three on a Legacy base where they all performed properly. It was only when they turned off the Legacy system and tried them in pure Conventional mode that the problem occurred. On all of them.

Just the odds of three of them having the exact same issue is pretty big if it was not a screw-up in the code.  Maybe Dave Olsen can throw some light on this.

Yeah, that’s the way I see it. Three in a row all with same problem. Odds are it’s not a fluke.
