can anyone recommend a place to get Pittman motors from? My supply is dwindling down. Its been years since I bought some. I bought a good a quantity from a 2 rail fella a long time ago....or does somebody have some they want to part with? I have been swapping out the pullmors on my scale lionel mohawks and what a difference with Pittmans and ERR stuff!

Pete, have you ever used that Tsiny motor form ebay? its looks to be a pittman knock-off? part no. TRS-868SB
Can't help on those but they look interesting. Ball bearings would be an upgrade over the Pittmans used by Lionel and MTH. I haven't been able to find out how many poles they have. Know anyone that reads Chinese?

You might try Pittman. In the olden days they sold motors to hobbyists for about half the price of other sources. Charlie Sr. was an O Scaler.
yes Bob I think you are correct, seems to memory My buddy Paul would call him direct to get Pittmans for his vast 2 rail brass fleet....I remember him ordering dozen at a time....he was a great friend, when he passed he left me quite a few locos...and half a dozen pittmans….thanks for the suggestion...
When you get replacement Pittman motors, by what means do you remove and reinstall the flywheel & gears from the defective motor to the new one?

I have a small two jaw puller for the pressed on ones, most I see these days just use a simple set screw, I'm mostly doing upgrades, so if a cheap can motor has a flywheel im gonna use on a Pittman, well, its game on and the flywheel is coming off by any means possible to save the flywheel without putting a ding in it...even cut the old shaft to get a clean shot at pressing the remaining piece of shaft out on my terms, if you know what I mean...

Can you send info or pictures of the jaw pullers. Also, how do you get the gears & flywheel on the new motor if there is no set screw involved? Heat up the flywheel & gear?
