All protosound 2 (3 or 5 volt) boards have a Protosound32 upgrade kit available to them. This part essentially upgrades them to Protosound 3. I really haven't had any problems with the PS3 stuff yet nor have had to make any repairs to them due to electronics failure. the PS3 upgrades kits are by far much easier to install and provide many more features than the previous PS2 upgrade kits.

Uhh... that's not true!  The electrics with the operating pantographs, or things like the Coors Silver Bullet train need a special board and the PS32 board has yet to be upgraded to support those.  That comes from MTH a few days ago as I have one of these in for a board replacement.

Okay, so Protoound32 upgrades will upgrade any PS2 (3 or 5 volt) but you'll lose the operating Pantographs & support for the Coors trains features if your engine has those features. The upgrade will still run the remaining 99% of features on those engines... Happy now?

I don't know, are you happy?   What's the problem, don't like to be corrected?  There's several other models that won't run with them currently either, the subway comes to mind.  Try not to get in a snit over something this silly.

In my train room we are all in……. DCS • Wi-Fi • APP

We still use the handheld remote but for my grandchildren they receive better play time with the MTH DCS Wi-Fi.  The first and second screens are layout well for children. The soft keys are also well organized.

We are on an iPhone 7 Plus.

Oh, I'm perfectly happy John, I think we both are! I however don't think it's correct to say they "won't run" though. If I install PS32 board in one of those engines, It will run just fine, minus a few specialty features particular to that specific model. Would it be more accurate to say that in some models a PS32 won't accommodate all of the originally included features... yet. I would assume when the demand becomes more real, MTH could release the flash code needed for those engines which could be applied to a PS32 board.

I image you have encountered a few engines with pantographs that needed replacement boards, Just curious how you had to proceed with repairs?

I'm not proceeding with repairs, that was my point!   I have two customer repairs with operating pans, and I'm just holding them because I can't fix them properly.

Since I happen to have one, and I know several other folks with them, I'm also concerned about keeping the Coors Silver Bullet train running, you'd lose most of the functionality if that board croaks!  The extra FLASH code is what enables the car doors to open, so that would really reduce the functionality of that model.
