Spoke to Bill Parr (southeast Pennsylvania areas) who specializes in S Gauge/Scale (Flyer, Flyonel, American Models, S Helper and MTH).  Bill states that he is no longer doing Allentown and is dropping spring York.

He has alot of S, doesn't have a store, or website so it is difficult to buy from him, unless you have contacts or first hand knowledge.  We in S have to be more proactive than other scales and you really want it to be in S, but I always like a challenge.  Maybe we can encourage/help those who support us, ideas?

Anyone else seeing the same things in their areas?

He always runs a full page advertisement in the S Gaugian and it has his contact information.

I always drop by his booth at York but I have always found him not easy to deal with.  He always seems to busy to discuss what he is selling and  he won't negotiate on his prices.  Maybe his interpersonal habits are the problem with his business.

Considering the large amount of postwar S available at the larger shows, and the fact that there are not all that many postwar S buyers, I would think the dealers would need to at least be friendly. The ones I ran into at York were very nice, and willing to deal.

I have to say as a lionel guy, my dad has over 120 boxed Gilbert s gauge sets. I watch a lot of flyer sets on Ebay with him just to see what they bring. There must be big collectors out there cause the flyer sets boxed bring a lot more money than any lionel set could imagine. I see just single rare cars go for $3000. Some sets will sell for crazy money.
