“The trains were moved under the supervision of LaRue Shempp from his home to the museum. There, they were carefully cleaned and placed in the cabinets per Mr. Shempp’s instructions,” Hunsinger said. With all of the work being done by volunteers, the entire project spanned a period of two years with the exhibition’s grand opening on July 20, 1983."

That is very cool. The Shempp collection in Williamsport is well worth a stop. Our paths actually crossed in the early '70s at a Rochester, NY train show. Mr Shempp, wearing a coat and tie, looked briefly at the HO brass I was selling then stopped at the next table with a number of Flyer standard gauge train sets including a Mayflower set. It was only later I learned who he was. A memory that has stuck with me.
