One of the most spectacular Lionel accessories to include in a train layout is the 50 airplane but did you know that the French JEP brand also produced one in the post war area, here is one new in box model. It is a rare thing to find now, it was expensive and not many where sold.
And a video of a running one which is not mine.
Have a great tinplate weekend, Daniel

These small CR (Rossignol) lithographed tinplate blue Wagon-Lits cars arrived this week. They were made as part of a clockwork set with a loco/tender and track, but I only have the cars. I assume they were part of a 8000 series Rossignol set, which was the smallest they made in 0 gauge. The locomotive was made to run in a circle only and the coupling hook of the cars is not at the centre but at the side (see picture) so it could run at a very small circle of track.

this 805 is one of the four wheel cars I picked up recently. Someone had tried to add four wheel trucks buy crimping the sides over. This didn't work, because the trucks hung up on the crimped areas. They did this with the 805, then decided to make it a four wheel car again. Someone also got creative with some silver paint.

Daniel, Fred and RSB: You fellows never cease to amaze me with your absolute unique GEMS! That JEP aeroplane, the smallest O gauge Orient Express cars ever, and that exquisite Issamayer set with its box no less! You guys ROCK!
Ya gotta LOVE this thread!
A recent add to the Dorfan collection. Looks pretty rough, but at least on the outside, this is a very solid casting. Not sure of the inside yet. I have wheels for the pony trucks and my friend John has the truck I’m missing. Great starting point for a Dorfan Croc.

My last purchase at York and American Flyer's last Pre War Hudson.
The link and pin coupler on the tender indicates that this is the tender for the freight train.

GREG: NICE Hudson! ☺
Sorry to report that my madness has extended to Barclay figures. I now have ll of them on the big Kibri 52-3 station together with a modern "neverwazz". Lost out on a recent auction so I can't report anything spectacular. As for airplanes, I have a wonderful Biller Round the World airplane set that features two wind up mechanisms--one to propel the plane and the other to turn the propellers.

Hopefully just your last purchase this trip to York, not your final York purchase, Greg.
A magnificent locomotive in what looks to be very nice shape. I've never seen one, so kudos on running it down. Interesting that all drivers are flanged, and the firebox light with the perforations are great. Splendid addition to the collection.
PD
at least you are running trains!

Thank you! I'm currently in the process of restoring my Prewar No. 257, if you want to, I can post progress pics
PLEASE DO!
Last of my "Fall photo shoot"....I always liked and enjoyed the American Flyer "Lightning Cars". I might be wrong here, I think I saw them in a Flyer catalog as early as 1920. Quick story--I used to have an elderly neighbor, one of the nicest guys you have ever met, and he was so kind to me when I moved into the neighborhood over 30 yrs ago, and our very rural neighborhood consists of nothing but century farms. He would always be so interested in the Flyer sets I had, and he got the biggest kick out of them. But it's funny, even though he grew up as a young boy in the era they were made and sold, he didn't get off the farm a lot, and he never got to experience the tinplate trains. But even more amazing was my neighborhood never got electricity until 1948, some 28 years after Flyer was making their "electric service sets"!

This is a McCoy remake of a cast American Flyer.

While I don't currently have any pictures, I can tell you what I do have so far. I have had a new pair of leading wheels put on the front, and a new handrail on the side. Some compontents of the motor were replaced, which is the reason it now runs. I still need to get a small handrail on the back, as well as 2 side rods, 2 screws for those side rods, a bell, and a cowcatcher. Heres a short, really low quality video i took recently for you all that are interested.
My wife picked up this cheap plastic Christmas train from Wal-Mart as a gag gift for my birthday. It turned out to be O gauge! The couplers are similar to Marx knuckle couplers and will hook up with the Marx couplers. Also tab and slot couplers seem to work with them as well.
The coaches have some kitbashing possibilities. I may buy myself another set just for the cars! It only cost $10! LOL
Here's the train on the layout. Locomotive isn't worth mentioning. It only runs when you turn it upside down.
Here's the passenger cars being pulled by a Marx 898 and 4 wheel tender.
The electric poles can be used on the layout as well as the signs that came with the set. The track seems decent. It may work as a substitute for the plastic track in some Marx battery and windup sets.

You certainly cannot go run for $10!
Steamer...that is such a dramatic improvement over the acquired condition...lack of drive rods don't detract much. Fendermain
why Thank You Sir!

My 257 still needs his side rods installed, I'm planning on ordering some from Hennings Trains, the rods themselves being $2.00 each, and the side rod screws being $1.25 per screw. I'm not certain, but I believe they could possibly work for your 262. If you wanted, I could give you the link to them.
thanks, I usually get my stuff from Jeff Kane.
Can you give me a way to contact him? There's a few parts I've been scouting out that I've been having trouble finding, particularly one.
Thank you! This will be very beneficial to the restoration of my collection. I will update you if I find the part I need.
