The Schorrs were kind enough to host the NMRA division meeting a few weeks ago at their house, with the highlight of course being their spectacular layout (and with the vintage film festival and meatballs in close second). Here are a few videos of the trains running that night; the first few clips are doctored to resemble vintage footage.

Beautiful layout. Thanks for the video!
Dan,
Thank you for posting the videos of Neal and Steven's layout! That certainly was a treat, and I'm sure everyone had a great time the day you were there. I am always glad to see them at shows. Neal is always so friendly!
Very nice layout. I like your “doctored” portion of the video. Thanks for posting this.
Neil,
Do you have a track plan to share?
Steve
Beautiful.
Many things to like, but chief among them is crisp ballast lines, like back when.
DGLE Alco PA's on the point..all you ever see is them in Tuscan
Stonework on viaduct
Nothing says "hawg"like Erie-Builts on the point of a freight.
I'm impressed, also, that Neil has kept his son involved at an age where boys chase girls, video games, & whatnot..as with my own son.
Great video Dan!
Rex, want to mention quickly that dad isn’t the one “keeping” me into trains, I like them because I like them. He got me into it, but I was the one who chose to stay.
I will say, I’ve become more interested in railfanning within the last two years as opposed to modeling. The photography aspect has really drawn me in, as well as the ability to document things that will eventually disappear to replacement. I do still enjoy modeling though.

I can attest to what Steven says, Rex! Back 5 years ago or so when I first met Neal and Steven at the wonderful open houses Patrick H and his wife put on, Steven was really into running trains on that great layout! It warmed my heart since I don't have any sons, and my daughters had no interest in the hobby!
Railfanning and photography is a great hobby itself, Steven. There are lots of great opportunities in the Greater Pittsburgh area!!
Wait, vintage film festival AND meatballs -- how was I not invited?

I know this is an older thread, but I loved the recent article in OGR Run 320 which is what kicked off my search this morning for more information. What a spectacular layout. I too would like to see a track plan @Steven Michael if you are willing to share. Congratulations Schorr family.
Ron
A track plan was featured in the 2007 Model Railroad Planning magazine. It was my very first introduction to true "hirail" modeling when I saw the article back then.
Here is a link to a website showing a rough sketch of his layout plan: https://www.hirailers.org/neal_schorr.htm
It isn't a complex plan filled with lots of industry sidings because the prototype he models, the Pennsy's "Middle Division", didn't have them either. He wanted a "railfan" style layout.
Great links and lovely model railroad.
On an unrelated note, I notice a comment by Farmer Bill. Anyone know why he hasn't visited since 2019? I've followed his posts since the AOL Boards days.

As I remember it, he would not agree to some VERY important Terms & Conditions here on the OGR Forums, and his account was subsequently "deleted". In my opinion, he rarely added anything of substance to most discussions, so I don't mis him at all!
I have had the honor to visit Neal and the layout in September 2018. It is truly spectacular!
