Anybody have any suggestions for 2 conductor multi strand wire (black and red or white and red) to use for wiring a layout. Need 18 gauge and 16 gauge. I think it was O Gauge Railroader that us to sell some but no longer. Need 100 foot spools or 50 ft spools. I do not want to use the speaker wire that most are using. The wire I purchased from O Gauge Railroader was great. Black and red inside a gray sleeve. As usual anything good they stop making.

I caught a hot deal on Amazon for 18 gauge, red/black 40' spool and used it for my Christmas tree loops--very satisfied with the product.  IIRC it was under $10 with free shipping:

Is this copper clad aluminum which has twice the resistance or solid copper? There’s a lot of less expensive cu/al out there and it’s not well documented.

I use single 14 ga. stranded THWN/THHN.

I have Red, Black & Green.

I can use it to make power connections with Red & Black

Or, control like for a Turn out with Red, Black & Green

and I cut to length-add 5 feet-then twist it with a drill

I buy in 500’ spools, because I hate to run out- because it always seems like I run out of EXACTLY what I need when I have the TIME or MOTIVATION to do what I want/need to do-and the stores are closed

Just wanted to say thank you to those who helped me find wire. I ordered 420' of 16 gauge and 200' of 14 gauge from Mr Muffins. Took a week to get here but it is the wire I was looking for and can not thank Mr Muffins enough for carrying it.

That being said I was surprised to see it thrown in a box. Took one and a half hours to untangle and remove oh so many kinks in the 16 gauge wire. I called and ask why they didn't put 37 cent zip ties around it and believe me I was shocked by the response. The person I talked to did NOT seem to care. His response was we never sold that much wire at one time. Really? 37Cents is what it cost for BIG zip ties. I highly recommend Mr Muffins for the wire purchase, but TELL THEM YOU DO NOT WANT IT KINKED ALL UP AND THROWN IN A BOX! Have them put zip ties on and give them an extra $10 for their time and cost of ties it will be WELL worth it trust me!

Mr Muffin is great to deal with and a very likeable person. Met him a couple times at the DCS Meetings and York Shows.

The train hobby business is tough as he will tell you. SO PLEASE support your local hobby shops like Mr Muffins as much as you can. Some things may be slightly higher but they are there for you! They need to survive too. The have an extreme overhead cost that most of us do not even recognize.

Thank You Mr Muffins. As for the sales boy- learn a little respect! We are your pay check! When I called I was trying to help you with future sales.

I bought 500 foot spools of #14 stranded wire at Lowe's locally, got it the same day I ordered, practically the same minute.

$38 for 500 feet, and I get a 10% veteran's discount that helps.   It also comes in various colors.

John - that's pretty cheap, especially for Lowes - is that for 2 conductor or single wire ?

All I come up with is https://www.lowes.com/pd/South...-By-the-Roll/3332736 which is 4 times more expensive !
