Just wondering if anybody ever was able to find side frames for the trucks to this engine. I have the same problem with the same engine

Might want to add the term "zinc pest" to your tags (by editing the initial post), as that is the name of the condition affecting your sideframes, and should you find a remedy, will help others in the future, as this defect is one that crops up from time to time in certain production runs across all the major manufacturers.

The remedy for Zinc Pest is the proper testing of the metal before production, to determine the purity.

So nobody knows of any side frames that will fit this engine that I can purchase.

Ive compared the new  SD40T-2 sideframes to the old and they mount different, so a no-go there. However SPSF is on to something. Check the link he provided. You might check 620-8523-185/186.  They mount the same and should fit correctly. Better grab them while they are available. To bad you didn't post this a week earlier when Lionel was offering 50% off!
