Hello Forum,

I installed the cruise commander M in my Lionel 6-18095 442 Atlantic. I located and soldered the wire from J 4 pin 1 serial data in, to Pin 2, of the ten pin connector on the R2LC connector, per page ten of the instructions.

I have been successful with this install 2 other times on my Lionel N&W 1218 Class A and my 4006 Big Boy.

All the command functions, motor control, couplers and smoke work fine, the issue is... no whistle, Bell, chuff crew talk tower talk ......... background engine noise is running.

I performed all the programming functions several times.

I also reinstalled all the original parts and it all works as before.

My R2LC is an -C06 per the label on the IC.

In the instructions page 3 the J4 connector shows pin 1 serial data in from R2LC-C08.

The tender has a 4 pin wire tether.... is the cruise commander pin 2, J4 connector serial data out used in this application?

is the revision C06 supported or any idea where I went wrong?

Regards,

John

Why did up upgrade?  I have a 6-18095 Atlantic and it has problems.  It goes slow into the turns, I have to increase power then back off power.  It also slows down on a straightaway. My other locomotives runs fine on the layout.   I was just wondering if your engine had any mechanical or electrical issues before the upgrade??? Thank you  Greg MI

C07 should work even though C08 is called out.  You can try swapping but the key is making sure Serial Data from the R2LC gets to Pin 1 on the CCM 10 pin jumper.  Also do NOT use the pin 2 serial data out. Just remove that wire.  Make sure the Serial data (from the R2LC) is still going to the tender too.  G

So with this C06 your CCM functions properly, plus the R2LC has functional control other than sound signals to the RS boards.  That is an interesting quirk because usually the CCM with take off at full speed when serial data not working right.

I agree with John to try a C08 if you have one.  If you do not have one.  G
