Lionel "The General Style" 4-4-0 parts

Anyone know what happened with Lionel making replacement parts for the 4-4-0. The pipe in gold #6108723085 are unavailable for months.

Also, the valve stem #1872-049 or #6108732085 seems to come in different thicknesses at the train shows. In my photo the top one measures .035" vs .060" for the bottom valve stem. Does anyone know why or what sizes belong to which generations of 4-4-0s?

The thin one is original, the thicker reinforced one is the later version.
