It can't be any worse than the insane "Buy it Now" prices for 90's Lionel & MTH PS1 locomotives on everyone's favorite auction site......

I'm convinced many of those sellers are ignorant or just unmotivated sellers. I'm planning to get into DCS and have started a little research. I have ZERO MTH/DCS experience but am smart enough to figure out a 1999 engine with Loco Sounds isn't worth original MSRP when there's a 2012-2019 new version with PS3 available and a warranty for the same price. My LHS still has some postwar engines neatly displayed under glass that I saw there on my first visit in 2002. More of a collector with a storefront than retailer I guess.

I sold a bunch of items here and on an auction site last week. Just about everything went, not surprised about two lower-end freight cars that didn't, but a bit surprised by a 2-pack of passenger cars. I'll push them out this week along with another semi-scale TMCC engine for 30-50% of original MSRP. If you actually WANT to sell, the OGR forum and other sites are great places.

I see MTH Premier PS1 steam and diesel locomotives listed on "the auction site" listed for MSRP or maybe a hundred dollars off all the time. Some of the items have been for sale for over a year. Same thing with 90's TMCC Lionel locomotives based on Postwar era tooling. You would think that after something has sat for that long the price would drop, or sellers would look at completed sales and adjust their prices accordingly. But no.
