I just got back from vacation in Barbados.  I am in shock.  Barry was such a nice man. I met him at York a few times. He was a true gentleman. He would help and answer all of our "stupid" questions. I think he would chuckle inside.

Sorry for the family's loss. God must have needed a wonderful and a great trainman to teach DCS to the angels.

I was honered to have known him for such a short time. I am sure we will all see him again some day.

I plan to attend.

I attended Barry’s memorial service this morning.  It was a nice service with about 30 people attending.  Attached is a scan of the booklet handed out to attendees.

Note the suggestion for contributions to the humane society as Barry and Cora were supporters of that organization and had adopted rescue dogs.

Thank you for coming to the memorial. I am sorry our first time meeting was under these circumstances.

I also attended Barry's Memorial Service yesterday.  Cora, Alan and Susan were all doing well and welcomed and thanked all who attended.  The service was very nice and I was very glad to have had the chance to go.  My grandson Bryce and I had visited Barry's home to see his layout and trains around 8-9 years ago.  Barry had a wonderful love for the hobby and will be missed by all who knew him.

I talked with Alan at length and he does plan to sell his dad's layout and trains.  He said he had already been approached and decisions would be made on how to proceed going forward.   Love, hope and prayers for Broskowitz's family.

Thank you for coming to the memorial.

Just returned from vacation with no computer access and this is first time I have read OGR.   So sorry to read of Barry's passing.  He was quite a resource and man with the answers to DCS, especially in the early days when we were trying to figure it all out

Could someone message me off line of what happened (email in my profile)?

Thanks,

I attended one of Barry's DCS sessions at York a few years ago, and he was able to quickly glean what my issue was with my newly installed DCS WiFi not being able to command Lionel engines (it was a loose antenna connection).  His DCS books have always provided expert descriptions and guidance.  He will be missed, but he will also be referenced for many, many, many years to come.

I've been away from the Forum for a while--longer than I thought, apparently--so just found out about Barry. So sorry to hear. He was always willing to help with any DCS inquiries and was clearly among the most knowledgeable folks about MTH's command system. He will certainly be missed by all users/potential users of DCS. It'll be sad not seeing him in York later this week.

My sincere condolences to his family.

Chris

I just popped back on this forum while taking an extended hiatus.  I first found out about this when looking over the MTH 2019 Vol. 2, I'm really saddened to hear of this news.  I remember Barry very well from his start on this forum, and his technical prowess and willingness to share his knowledge was commendable.  At the end of the day, he was like us, another O gauge enthusiast like us who enjoyed modelling, tinkering, and running trains.

You will be missed Barry, and my condolences go out to his wife, family, and all those that were close to him.

Very sad surprise, at just find out the loss of Barry, back on March 17 my wife was at a rehabilitation facility after ten days sick in a hospital, back them there was no time for me to think in trains, I was with my ill wife all the time, thanks to God she is at home now and a few minutes ago I got that terrible surprise, I will miss him a lot, he came to see my layout and we run several trains, my sinceres condolences to his famity
