Random PS2/3 question:

I have this (20-2980-1) with the spiffy road number, and this one (20-20567-1) without the spiffy road number.

I really like how (20-20567-1) sounds. The (20-2980-1) one is not so good.

I want to make the (20-2980-1) one sound like the (20-20567-1) one, which I suspect everyone already knows means that I should put in a PS3 board instead of a PS2 board and get the sound file from (20-20567-1).

However I want the string ID for the engine to still be the (20-2980-1) one on the remote/app, not the (20-20567-1) one when it lists the engines. Like still say "6936" instead of "6922". Otherwise it looks like I "cheated" and just repainted the road number on the shell.

Also I'm a design engineer not a technician and don't want to actually *do* anything myself or I'll break things. Is there anyone that can do exactly this thing for money?

Adrian, given all you've added to the forum here, if you like, I'll update the permanent string in your board for free.  You can have it say anything you like on the remote using the dealer loader to permanently change the ID string.

Hi John,

Can I send my train to you and hire you to do the whole upgrade? I’m a designer not a technician and have no practical skills.... last time I opened an engine to glue the headlamp in I lost the PS board in collateral damage.

If so plz email me details, fees, address and such and I’ll drop the engine in the mail.
