Lionel 182 crane issue, motor not running in One Direction, common issue I believe?

Hello all,

I finally got my 182 crane issue down to sporadic running of motor in One Direction. The motor drives the crane cab to the right and that side of motor direction to move the hook. After fumbling around a bit the motor will run in the other direction and move the crane cab to the left and work the hook in the direction it is supposed to. Then it stops working . Please advise how to check out faulty wiring that may be causing the motor to not work in that direction.

Any kind of help will be appreciated as usual, Jerry
